Good afternoon folks. Apologies for the light posting today but I’m still recovering from the trip to Houston. I had a good time in Texas but am definitely glad to be back in Jersey.
Before we get to the weekend I thought it would be a good time for another You Write the Caption. When I saw this photo I knew American soccer fans could have a field day with it, so here goes. After the jump is a photo that will make U.S. fans smile and Mexico fans cringe. Share your caption ideas after the jump:
"Rafael Marquez is given a harsh reminder of why he never wanted to be a matador."
Now it’s your turn. Let’s get some good captions and I will post the Top 10 on Monday.
Rafa “You know Jozy, i used to think you were crazy”
Jozy “Really?”
Rafa “But now i can clearly see your nuts”
Rafa tests out the new Tempurpedic turf in Houston.
Altidore responds to Sam’s Army’s “Kumite…Kumite…” chant
“Bob Bradley: Sweep the leg Jozy.
Onyewu: Put him in a body bag, yeah!
Posted by: Arriaga”
Wow…put this guy at #1…best Karate Kid reference…ever. “Sweep the leg” is awesome, but including “put him in a body bag, yeah!” takes it to a whole other level. Well played, sir.
Marquez gets “pwned” by a “newb”–Altidore reaches level 70
I vote for CD’s:

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I am Jozy Altidore and this is my story.
“When I was a teenager I kicked the ball too hard and my parents were afraid I would hurt the Mexican national team.”
Impossible Is Nothing
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I was going to try to come up with something witty, but that one was too good.
CPTKevin — think that was “Some Kind of Wonderful” not “Breakfast Club.” But a great line, either way.
And one more, playing off of Joe_in_ND’s earlier post:
Joe_in_ND: Jozy is amazed by Rafa’s ability to perform the “Stop! Drop! And Roll!” right in the middle of the game.
My addition: Perhaps Rafa just took it too literally when Hugo Sanchez said that his job was to “put out fires” in the back.
It’s simple math: 9 > 4
breakdance dancebreak
Wax on, wax off.
Hello, My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to get scored on!
how about this caption?
“Rafa I love Barca, maybe someday I can shine your shoes? ohh by the way, I’m sorry I’m used to the BS physical style of MLS Soccer, I didn’t know I couldn’t hack at your heels all night and not get a yellow!”
Jozy needs to learn how to control himself, he stepped on Rafa quite a few times, then I realized the kid has like size 14 feet!!!
No wonder Real Madrid has interest in Altidore. He makes Barca defenders look very, very amateur.
“Wait! Let me shine your golden boot!” – Rafa
Bobby Convey looks on from behind and wonders to himself, “So THAT’s how you put a move on a defender!”
Mexican national team defender Rafa Marquez unsuccessfully attempts his patented “Backspin” defense, allegedly developed after several hundred viewings of “Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo,” on American phenom Jozy Altidore.
Man…They will do anything for a Coronoa
Ay, ay, ay, no me gusta. Siento como el carro de Paco de esos anuncios publicitarios de Allstate.
Marquez: I really miss Cobi Jones.
6 feet 1 inches, 175 pounds of an American vs. 5 feet 11 inches of a Mexican.
The Futre meets the Past.
Caption 1:
Rafa: Damn, Gringo, that is one ugly uni. Couldn’t the kids in those swoosh sweatshops (or swoosh shops) do any better?
Caption 2:
This is something you will never see Sportscenter announcers fawning over.
Bob Bradley: Sweep the leg Jozy.
Onyewu: Put him in a body bag, yeah!
Mr. Marquez, meet the future.
Mr. Marqueuz, meet the future.
“Down goes Marquez”
(ala “Down goes frazier”)
That’s why he’s a world class defender.
If you go low Jozy will just float over you.
First part didn’t make it for some reason:
Jozy “All right, we’ll call it a draw”
Rafa “Oh I see. Running away, eh? You Gringo bastard, come back here and take what’s comming to you! I’ll bite your legs off!”
Rafa “Oh I see. Running away, eh? You Gringo bastard, come back here and take what’s comming to you! I’ll bite your legs off!”
Jozy is amazed by Rafa’s ability to perform the “Stop! Drop! And Roll!” right in the middle of the game.
Jozy – “Note the state-of-the-art retractable roof…”
Rafa: “What the hell was that!?”
Rafa: “No Senyor Altidore, porfavor have mercy!”
Jozy: “Get to landscapin’!”
Hugo Sanchez: “Don’t u be hurtin’ my man!!!”
“See you in Madrid…”
I VOTE FOR:
Jozy be like “unnnhhhh.” And Rafa be like “whaaaaaaaaaa”?

First, Rafa was embarassed by the Gooch stare, now the Jozy speed express makes him look bad…maybe Rafa should stay on the bench next time; next thing you know, he’ll be beaten by our U-16 players.
¡No mas!
Jozy: “I bet Robinho’s never done that to you huh?”
