Midweek soccer on TV

If you are having a bit of Champions League withdrawal because of the lack of mid-week soccer action, you might not have realized that there actually is a quality slate of games on TV today.

With EPL (a London Derby), Serie A (the Rome Derby) and CONCACAF Champions Cup action on the menu, there is plenty for everyone to watch. Here is a rundown of today’s soccer on TV:

3:30pm- GolTV- Getafe at Racing de Santander. A little Copa Del Rey action to get the day started.

4pm- FSC- Bolton at Manchester United. The Red Devils can officially move into sole possession of first place with a win while Bolton is sinking in relegation quicksand and will be desperate for a result.

4pm- Setanta USA- Chelsea at Tottenham. Who said the Blues were out of the title race? Chelsea can make things very interesting atop the EPL with a win here, but their London rivals aren’t going to make it easy.

6pm- FSC- Roma at Lazio– One of the fiercest rivalries in the world, the Rome derby never lacks for excitement and the home team will be looking to dash Roma’s Scudetto hopes.

8:30pm- FSC- CD Municipal at Houston Dynamo. With D.C. United having taken care of business in its Champions Cup quarterfinal, Houston will look to improve on a rather flat performance in the first leg against an underrated Municipal side.

  1. Agreed on Ronaldo, what a (1st half) show. All this with a ManU lite line-up. Too bad the Bolton goal was waved off, I would have liked to see ManU have to try.

Also, if it wasn’t for a tasty Roma – Lazio match following, I’d be green with envy for anyone who was Setanta. The Chelsea – Spurs match sounds SICK.

  2. I’ll definitely be watching Roma-Lazio, and might end up catching Man U-Bolton.

I have to say, it’s amazing how much time soccer takes out of my week. Even the last few days, were there weren’t really any games on, I’ve been watching old champions league games on UEFA’s site.

  3. Ives, please keep providing interesting ESPN stories on your site. I know that my company (as well as others I’m sure) has now blocked any access to ESPN for the duration of march madness so we can’t get any access to the soccer information!
