This weekend’s Soccer on TV: Easter Edition

Cristiano_ronaldo_7_ap_2

It is going to be one of those holidays. You know the ones, where you have to find some very good excuses to score the necessary two to four hours of TV time to watch some marquee soccer action. Your family commitments are going to keep you busy but where there’s a will, there’s a way to still catch the can’t-miss match (or matches).

Easter Sunday offers just that as the English Premier League’s Big Four squares off in two mouth-watering encounters. Liverpool travels to red-hot Manchester United while Arsenal look to regain the top spot in the EPL by beating Chelsea in Stamford Bridge (which isn’t exactly easy).

So what are the Top Five matches on TV this weekend? Here are the SBI Five Matches to Watch:

  • Liverpool at Manchester United. Can Man U stop Torres? Can Liverpool even tough Cristiano Ronaldo?
  • Arsenal at Chelsea. Expect a fiesty affair as the Blues look to move into the second spot in the standings.
  • Juventus at Inter Milan. Inter can throw more dirt on Roma’s title chase with a win here while Juventus will look to send a message for next season.
  • Atletico Madrid at Sevila. A Champions League place is on the line between two teams battling for fourth place in La Liga.
  • Fulham at Newcastle. You think a relegation battle isn’t worth watching? Think again. This one will be a real battle.

You know it’s a good slate of games when the CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying final between the USA and Honduras doesn’t make the cut, but that’s also because the game isn’t that meaningful and top players will likely be rested.

Here is the schedule for this weekend’s soccer action on TV. Enjoy:

  1. Aristotle,

Just like the O’Brien & relegation for the MLS question that Ives gets every Q&A someone gets “outraged” by the games on FSC every week, it gets old.

Sorry if my response was over the top but literally someone acts outraged over their team not being shown every time Ives does this.

How could you possibly not know how the Premiership schedule works? Holy crap!

What’s wrong with you? This is shocking!

I am so glad that I DO know this. How embarrassing it must be for you!

Perhaps it would be wise if you just stopped posting here. I mean, really!

  3. Do you guys still really not understand how the Premiereship schedule works? Holy crap.

Setanta gets 1st 3rd 5th pick of Saturday games and the Early Sunday game.

FSC gets 2nd 4th 6th pick of Saturday games and the Later Sunday game.

Don’t know how people that follow the Prem still don’t know this. Shocking.

  4. Garret, Man United and Liverpool will probably be on Pay Per View because all they want is god damn money. That is how cable vision does it at least.

  5. Why couldn’t FSC get Manchester – Liverpool, the two hottest teams in the premiership instead of Chelski – Arsenal??

  6. Fulham v. Newcastle will be awesome! Come on Team America!!! I have been waiting to see that one all week. Oh yeah, of course ManU/Liverpool and Arsenal/Chelsea.

And I will also scan Bayern Munich/Leverkusen.

  7. Boy, I gotta say that that Atletico Madrid-Sevilla game is a mouth waterer. Both fighting for Champions League, both attacking attractive sides. Don’t miss that one!

Hey, Ives, I’d say you call me pretending to be my boss saying I have to “work” and I’ll do the same for you, so we could sneak out to watch this weekend, but you lucky SOB, you don’t have a boss…

  8. FSC has a great Saturday schedule. Fulham/Newcastle, West Ham/Everton, Inter/Juve.

    I hate not having Setanta.

I will probably watch Man U/Liverpool through internet feeds.

  9. Agree w/ Ives’ top 5 on this weekend full of good matches. But don’t forget Real Madrid against a Valencia side emboldened by their Copa del Rey win yesterday. Could be a good one as well.
