  1. Ives, Ray Hudson on the Real – Valencia commentary? I’m watching it on GolTV and the commentator is certainly not Ray Hudson. What are you watching it on?

Btw…how bad is that ref in Real – Val game?!?! He’s horrible.

  2. Yeah Amit, go watch highlights of Keller’s game against Brazil in 1998 Gold Cup, proof that he was one of the best if not the best goalkeeper the U.S. has ever had. Would love to see him in MLS.

  3. I hope Amit is kidding. Keller in my opinion has been one of the best players the USMNT has ever had! He erased so many of the problems that our defense had over the years. He certainly will be welcomed to the MLS! And I am pretty sure he will go to the Seattle group. At some point the MLS with all the DP slots and growth of the league will be bringing in World Class keepers. Keller will be one. My beloved D.C. United would LOVE to have a shot stopper like Keller in the nets for them…

  4. The Real Madrid-Valencia match is a good one so far, two goals and quality attacking going on. Oh, and Ray Hudson on the commentary. Can’t beat that.

  5. I completely disagree with Amit’s post about Keller. I would love to see him play his final year in the MLS before retiring.

He’s been great for the USMNT, and that post is classless at best.

  6. It also opened up for Chelsea when Walcott came on for Van Persie in the 76th, who didn’t have a great match but helped out a lot more tracking back.

Kind of like if the US subbed Freddy Adu for Landon Donovan.

    5 mins of injury time…

  7. Sagna went down for Arsenal around the 70th, and they just never pulled their sh!t together again after the substitution.

  8. Drogba scores again. Chelsea showing some great heart and Avram Grant makes some very good substitutions. Funny that Chelsea fans were cheering Mourinho’s name just before Chelsea’s two goals.

  9. 2 -1 Chelsea, Drogba again

Arsenal deserved that. They were playing like a tie was fine, which would’ve been their 6 straight. Maybe they didn’t notice Man U won again?

  10. The Arse stole a goal, but Chelsea keeps hanging around.

Ballack has been everywhere, but I was shocked to discover Lampard’s been playing this whole time, he hasn’t done crap.

73rd… and Drogba equalizes just before I hit post.

  11. I just flipped on the Barca game to see Bojan score an offsides goal, and Ray Hudson says on Bojan “The best thing on two legs since Sophia Loren”…

  12. With Derby a certainty and Fulham appearing to be headed for relegation, it would be fun to see veterans Eddie Lewis, Brian McBride and Kasey Keller all return to the U.S. and play in MLS.

  13. Off Topic-

What is Altidore’s number on the US Men’s national team?

I have seen him wear #9 and onion bag is selling them with #14.

    Thanks,

  14. Definitely good action in Arse – Chelski, although Chelsea look like they’re running out of ideas once they get to the box if it isn’t on a break.

Joe Cole looks to be on his game again, even if he does wear the shortest shorts in professional sports.

  15. Drogba squanders a perfect long ball from Terry as his touch lets him down about 12 yards from goal. That should have been a goal.

  16. The Arsenal-Chelsea game is being played at a break-neck pace. Some good stuff from both squads so far. Still 0-0 at the 22nd minute.

  17. I agree with some of your statements Brant. I’ve always been puzzled by many of Benitez’s player selections. As i mentioned, i like Kuyt, great workrate, but he rarely really looks like a threat, not to mention he lacks the pace to play on the right. Benitez has also been benching Riise alot lately, which looks like it has ensured hes leaving in the summer. I think Riise still has one of the best left foot in Europe. I’m at the point where i think either Benitez should go, or they should hire a manager to deal solely with the premiership and let Benitez worry about the champions league. He just simply doesn’t get the premiership.

  18. Surprisingly, I’ve yet to find blame for the loss on Hicks or Gillet yet. Then again, defeat is still fresh, there is plenty of time.

  19. Thanks for the ustream link. I have a feeling I’ll be using that a bunch.

I loved this line from Guardian.co.uk’s minute-by-minute report:

“Liverpool get the ball out of their own half, briefly. Dirk Kuyt ensures natural order is restored by conceding a throw-in deep in Manchester United territory.”

I’d be less concerned with Benitez’s tactics than his choices of players. Remember, this is the guy that started Bolo Zenden in the Champions League final, and while Torres is damn good, Milan Baros was, too, when he was at Liverpool, and Benitez let him go. Dirk Kuyt continues to find his way on the pitch, ensuring that Liverpool starts nearly every game a man down already.

  20. Torres’ time will have to wait. This is the Year of Ronaldo. Everton and Tim Howard will even end up finishing 4th but Liverpool will continue on in Champions League. I cant wait to hear the Mascherano complaints after this one goes final.

  21. The wheels have come off for Liverpool. In the span of a few minutes, they have given up goals to Nani and Ronaldo, and it’s 3-0 United.

  22. He has to use his head after getting that first yellow so early. It is just senseless and there really is no excuse for it. Dumb

  23. What do you think about the red card for Mascherano? Whether or not the first challenge should have been a yellow, I’m not surprised that he was booked for dissent later. Disappointing for the Liverpool fans, but the referee had set a precedent.

  24. I’m a LIverpool fan and i think i’m near my end of supporting Benitez. Kuyt, Aurelio and Arbeloa should not be on the field. I love Kuyt for his effort and workrate, but he produces very very litte. I’d have Riise out on left Finnan on the right and Pennant on the right, or shift Babel over there and play Kewell on the left. I think he simply doesn’t get it. Heres to watching another game against United, most likely using by a couple scrappy goals.
