Real Salt Lake at Chivas USA: Your Running Commentary

Chivasusa Saltlake_2

Apologies for the lateness in getting this up but it was a bit of a crazy night.

Real Salt Lake travels to the Home Depot Center, or as RSL fans call it, the house of horrors, to take on Chivas USA. Two teams which opened the season with ties look for their first victory.

Is Real Salt Lake’s defense really that much improved? Is the Chivas USA attack capable of generating good chances despite injuries to its top forwards?

If you are lucky enough to be watching this game on HDNet and happen to be online, please feel free to share your thoughts, opinions and even some play-by-play on the match in the comments section below.

  1. “but I can also get it with an antenna (and I live way out in the sticks).”

I think this is false. I checked the HDNet website and there is absolutely no indication that the channel is available over the air via antenna. Its a cable channel. On Time Warner it is part of an additional HD package for 9.99 that includes 7 other channels I do not care about. Its hard for me to legitimize the expense.

  2. Actually, the picture on HDNet is better than on ESPN high definition feed (they don’t compress it as much)… the commentary, well, let’s just say it is better than Davey O’Brian;-)… many people actually get this over the air and don’t even realize it (you might want to check in your area). I get it via DirecTV, but I can also get it with an antenna (and I live way out in the sticks).

  3. Again, RSL had the better of the run of play but can’t find a finisher. Why Deuchar (who missed two golden chances and scored one) was playing a more withdrawn role, instead of a target forward is beyond me. Also the services (crosses) by RSL pretty muched sucked. If you have a big guy like that put them in the air, not on the ground or at waist level!

  4. Chivas up 3-1 on a 93′ (4′ of stoppage time added) breakaway goal by Alecko Eskandarian.

Final whistle and Saturday #2 is over.

  5. Not getting it on MLSLive is suprising because I’m getting it on Direct Kick. I guess because the broadcast is coming from FSN rather than HDNet.

  6. Does anyone have HDNET? I though ordering MLSLIVE would cover game on HD and Telefutura. This sucks. Nice to see Doc score for RSL.

  7. Have to say, it is a pleasure to watch a match on the grass field of HDC after watching RBNY/Crew on the plastic of the Meadowlands!

  8. I would love to see this game but don’t have the HDTV channel. All I know is that it is 1-0 Chivas at the half with a goal by Sacha.

  9. 1-0 Chivas at half. Galindo passes to klejstan on the right side of the box. Klejstan slots it under an on rushing rimando for the goal. Going to bed!
