Brazilian superstar Ronaldinho has agreed to the general terms of a contract with AC Milan, meaning that the Italian club can sign the playmaker once it agrees on a transfer agreement with Barcelona.
Ronaldinho, who is out for the rest of the season with a leg injury, has been eyeing a move out of Barcelona and long-time suitors AC Milan look to have won the sweepstakes for his services. Ronaldinho would join fellow Brazilians Kaka, Alexandre Pato and Ronaldo (assuming Ronaldo returns from his knee surgery).
Barcelona won’t be struggling for attacking talent, not with the emergence of Bojan Krkic and presence of Lionel Messi, Xavi, Deco and Andres Iniesta. Giovanni Dos Santos is also an option assuming he is not sold this summer, which has been rumored.
Ronaldinho to Milan would crowd an already full midfield that includes Kaka, Andrea Pirlo, Gennaro Gattuso, Clarence Seedorf and Massimo Ambrosini.
What do you think about Ronaldinho potentially moving to AC Milan? Share your thoughts below.
I THINK Massimo Ambrosini MUST GO TO ANOTHERS CLUB BUT I PREFERS HE WILL GO IN THIS CLUB BARCERLONA OR REAL MARDIR OR CHEALSEA OR INTER MILAN OR ARSENAL THATS CLUB THAT I ACCEPTEDS THANK U 🙂
The midfield comment really kinda baffles me. If you’ve watched Ronaldinho play at Barca, he’s really not a midfielder at all. He’s been playing on the left side as a withdrawn forward in Barca’s 4-3-3. That makes him pretty much the model trequartista in Milan’s 4-3-2-1 alongside Kaka. That would mean shifting Seedorf back into a traditional midfield role alongside Pirlo and Gattuso/Ambrosini and phasing out Gila/Inzaghi. That’s pretty much the lineup Milan was using last season anyway, before Ambrosini had a good run of form at the end of the term and established himself as a regular first choice.
milan should change its name from AC to BC because its players are so damn ancient and old. (before christ) : ]
Well with Ronaldinho going to AC maybe AC will let Gattuso go to Bayern. Hey one can hope cant they. If Bayern made that move they would realy strengthen their midfield for a CL run next season.
Sigh. Ronaldinho leaving Barca was inevitable. But it’s kind of like seeing John Elway go and play for another team. Ronnie has played on other teams before, yes. But he’s had his best years at Barca.
Oh well.
I wouldn’t put my name on something that I didn’t believe in.
”
They should change the name of the team too from AC Milan too BC Milan …
Brazilian Club at Milan ….BC Milan
BC Milan adding Ronaldinho to a club that already consist of 6 other brazilian teammates …Kaka, Pato, Emerson, Cafu, Ronaldo, and Dida ..and adding Ronaldinho makes it the 7th Brazilian players added to the club .. .this is a Brazilian local club in Milan (Italy) …”
Don’t forget Serginho and Digao…
I don’t think Milan’s midfield is a problem, because there is no way Ronnie would be playing in midfield… They have a tailor made position for him right next to Kaka in the 4-3-2-1 they play. It’s not all that different from where he plays at Barca.
Besides, there will be a clear-out of players this summer whether Milan qualifies for the Champions League or not.
It is time for Ronnie to leave Barca, though I think going to Milan is a bad move for him. He would do best staying in the Spanish league. As far as replacing him, Barcelona does not need another defensive midfielder, as long as Yaya Toure is healthy. I think that Diego from Werder Bremen would be a great replacement and a #10 player they have been missing since Deco has been hurt so much.
Apparently Barca had enough of his late night partying. The inside scoop from Brazilian websites.

I whole heartedly endorse the Juve-Milan match going on now, btw, 2-2 in the 68th
hokiegooner – The way you phrased it, it didn’t sound like you had, and I definitely got sucked into posting before reading. I’m used to the idea of inflated rumors on deals that aren’t likely to happen, but I at first glance I’d tend to believe the transfer figure since the deal is this far along. Do you have any past deals in mind that happened, but the press flubbed the final fee?
It’s a believable figure, not one I’d want my club to make. It seems like, at it’s peak, the rumor that wasn’t go to happen was Ronaldinho to Milan or Chelsea for 50M euros. Besides, he’s “worth it” on the jersey side. Sigh, the galacticos approach is always tempting somebody…
i think serie a is a better fit for ronaldinho than the epl.
AC Milan and Juventus match is crazy!
By the way, if Ron and Titi leave Barcelona who will replace them?
I’m a fan of Barca/Ronaldinho, but he is a long way off from his form of just a few years ago. I’ll be interested to see if they go looking for another #10…”Get Your Yaya Toure Out” can’t be it.
Of course, Barca has done just fine w/o him for a lot of the season.
What an odd move. No need for Ronaldinho to go to Milan. He probably should leave Barcelona, but why Milan? That’s Kaka’s team and they do not work well together.
Hopefully Barcelona can bring in some defensive presence in midfield to go with Messi, Deco, Iniesta, and the others and they can take out Madrid.
I’m not a fan of the move. He’s going to be in another situation of too much talent for a team. With Gattuso, Kaka, Seedorf, and Prilo (to name a few), he might not be any better off than he was playing in Barca. Milan is an amazing club with a lot of history and you probably don’t say “no” when they offer you a contract, but it’s going to be too crowded when he gets there. I liked the Man City move but I understand why it wasn’t a priority, it’s not his style of football.
wasn’t that the similar situation with chelsea? they had agreed on a a general contract but needed to agree upon a transfer fee? i’m assuming that fell through then…?
lame
whoop,s that was suppose to say, ” I read the article” not trying to say that “you should read” the article.
Eric, read the article. Saw the speculation. Was curious as to what you guys thought, since speculation by the Italian and Spanish media usually seems to be off. But if you went by that, it would be in between $30 million and $45 million (at least using current exchange rate).. Personally, I think that is way too much. Although they might look to recoup some of the $32 million they used to by Henry.
He is following exactly the same footsteps as Ronaldo.
Incredibly talented, poor work ethic, bad off the field atitude, gets injured a lot to make him more unfit, now he is going to AC Milan just like Ronny.
His career is downhill from here.
Would like to see Kaka go to Real Madrid.
Another aging, washed-up star for Milan… bring him on
Looks like a found my new favorite team(besides the Bulls, of course)
Whoops! Look at us not read the article:
“Spanish and Italian media reports have speculated about a transfer fee of between 20 and 30 million euros while some newspapers have talked about Ronaldinho buying up the rest of his contract at Barca.”
And I’ll be curious if it’s more or less than they paid for Pato ($30 million, right?)!
Bad move. Bad fit. He should have tried to go somewhere he would be able to play the #10.
Money talks i guess, there are few teams out there that can pay him or Barca’s fee.
Bad move, but I’m pumped to watch it unfold.
Couldn’t agree more with hokiegooner, he and Kaka have never really clicked together, I don’t know why Milan would want to do that here (other than jersey sales).
Seems like it’s a huge risk with Kaka, who rumor has it is the best paid player in the world. If you made that investment, why jeopardize it on a guy who is known not to play well with him?!?
It’ll be really hard for Ronaldinho to make it to MLS anytime soon, since no one pays transfer fees yet, and who knows when he’ll be out of a contract.
Being a Milan fan I’m happy, but the midfield is now very overcrowded… And I think seerdorf’s days are numbered in milano. But I’m excited about seeing pato, kaka, & dinho playing together…. Just hoping we get into the champions league.
Forza Milan!!!!
How much do you guys suppose they will get for him? Obviously its not going to be the kind of money that they would have got 2 years ago, but maybe $30 million? What do you guys think?
Sweet! Hopefully Barca can get a huge transfer fee from this.
Additionally, I think Kaká will lose respect for the club after this move and bolt to another big club.
Well, one had to assume he wouldn’t go to England because the work ethic is too much for a player (and personality) like Ronaldinho.
I think he will have some good appearances for Milan, but eventually all of the egos will get in the way and things will turn out poorly.
There was also a rumor that Kaká did not want him to be bought because of his work ethic and off-field attitude (i.e. partying).
I have definitely lost a lot of respect for Ronaldinho both as a person and a player over the last year, so good luck and good riddance is the best I can say to him.
how well is he going to work with Kaka though? I know they are not the same type of player, but they did not really co-exist well at the world cup, so can they do it in Milan?
this was bound to happen at some point. hopefully he can recreate his old magic at milan
I guess RBNY will have to wait until Ronaldinho is 32 for him to come here.
