  1. Brant ~ I’d say it’s a bit of a stretch to say that Barrett has been great for the Fire. He’s had a good start to the season for sure, but was borderline miserable last year. I do get your point in general though.

Good to see Real Madrid get the win playing 10v11 for 70+ minutes. For those that didn’t see it Torres got the boot in @ the 20th minute. I know it was @ lowly murcia, but it was one that they needed @ a relegation level.

  2. These guys kill me doing the highlights.

They manage to pronounce Schelotto’s name correctly (no “e” in front of it.

Then they talk about how Kliejstan played well for the U23’s.

I know he scored a goal, but SK played like @ss in that tournament. He and Barrett are so confounding – they play great for club and horrid for country.

No mention of the red cards either in the highlights.

  3. ManU won, but they didn’t beat Arsenal. Arsenal beat themselves. Arsenal outplayed ManU in the middle, but were useless inside the 18.

CRonaldo got shut down. I hate that he’s on the score sheet, b/c, aside from the run to the line where he put Rooney in, he was a waste of space in the game. The only good thing he did was stand over a free kick he didn’t take, shifting the focus from Hargreaves.

He never shows up against Arsenal. All his little tricks at the end were only when he had a lot of space, and they came to nothing.

Rooney is the one who causes Arsenal trouble, though, and he had chances again today.

Of course, ManU almost beat themselves as well, thanks to Ferdinand and Brown’s brilliant shots at Van Der Saar. Maybe Arsenal can sign them to play alongside Adebayor.

  4. DCM – I hear ya. I don’t mind the same 5-6 sponsors. I want them to have more than 1-2 commercials each, tho. Go get some college broadcast journalism class to create some ads for you as a class project.

  5. Is anyone else sick of this guy “grabbin’ his celly”?

Can they not bring back the guy that plans on calling back “all of his B-list friends”? That was a much funnier commercial.

  6. Lehmann was completely fooled on the free kick, he was watching Ronaldo when Hargreaves snuck in and curled the free kick just inside the left post.

  7. Manchester United 2, Arsenal 1

Hargrease with a beautiful free kick after Gallas gives up a PK that Ronaldo onverts to equalize.

    Arsenal is TOAST

  8. ManU 2 – 1 Arsenal

72nd – What a set piece from Hargreaves. Lehman never took a step as he was badly, badly beaten by an excellent ball that went over the wall just inside the near, left post. Most everyone was expecting Hargreaves to run over the ball leaving it for Ronaldo to take, but instead were fooled.

  9. Adebuyor with a Rooney-esque yellow card on a bad tackle after losing the ball.

Then Tevez sends a screamer just wide. I’m glad he and Walcott are now in the game.

  10. Arsenal 1 – 0 ManU

48′ Goal Adebayor, goal is scored off of his left forearm that was up by his head on a cross from Van Persie

50/51′ Ferdinand with a near Own Goal that is somehow saved by Van de Sar

    ManU 1 – 1 Arsenal

52′ Hand Ball in the box for Gallas results in ManU PK tha Ronaldo puts beyond the reach of Lehman

  11. DCM – thanks.

If anyone cares, I was able to get some blow-by-blow commentary on the Crew-Chivas game yesterday. I was at the game, so I did it all based on watching on TiVo at home afterwards.

Ives – is there a way for some of us to chime in from the games by texting in from our phones? I would’ve happily provided some commentary from the game last night, since I was already updating my brother on vacation in FL, and the game was only shown on local cable sports channel.

  12. Bayern Munich rolling through Dortmund leading 4-0 at half. Now this is the game to watch. Luca Toni with 2 goals. I guess they arent as tired as people thought after the Getafe game.

    Lets go FC Bayern Munchen!!!

  13. I missed the start of the game – why did Lehmann get the start? Almunia hurt? Wenger caved to the whining? Lehmann has pictures of the Arsenal management with a goat and midget?

  15. The Roma keeper with a nice save on a free kick at the whistle, and that’s it, Roma 3, Udinese 1, all goals in the 2nd half (same as Liverpool, actually).

Inter’s lead is back down to one, and they play at 2:30 against Fiorentina. It’s going to be a tough call for viewing later, that or the new look Toronto midfield against the Gals.

But in a huge Serie A weekend (6 of the top 7 playing each other), both Milan-Juve and Roma-Udinese have been fantastic.

  16. Giuly seals the deal for Roma with a cool finish in the 90th, 3-1 Roma. That’s why they brought him in from Barca.

Which was the big unasked question in the CL game against Man U, why did Giuly not start???

  17. Looks like Liverpool made life miserable for Brad Friedel in the 2nd half and take a comfortable 3-1 win, goals by Gerrard, Torres, and Voronin (just to mix it up). Santa Cruz with the goal for pride’s sake.

  18. Did anyone else just see the ref standing on the penalty spot as a Roma player cut one back for Totti who had to hesitate a second because of the ref?? haha

In all fairness, Totti then missed a rebound from the six a few minutes later and sent it wide for a throw in!!

As a neutral fan, the first ten minutes of the second half has been quite entertaining.

  19. Anyone know what happened before Gronigen and Ajax kicked off? Everyone left the pitch, one end of the stadium was covered in smoke, there was what looked to be burning debris on the pitch and I saw crowd shots of people getting the boot. I tuned into the TELE2 feed on Sopcast but when there’s any commentary it’s in Dutch and I have no clue what’s being said. Can’t find any news about it either. Probably just a few idiots ruining an entire game.
