I hope they are able to stay up, but it looks like nothing short of another win at Portsmouth will do. You may have NO hair left by the end of next week’s game!

I was wondering the same thing about Dempsey, but then I realized it was probably a smart move. I don’t know that Dempsey had such a great year as to be able to consider himself above the Championship League. He was benched until just recently and it’s possible that if Fulham were safe before he re-signed and were considering upgrading the team they have now, that they might not want to have re-signed him. It’s possible. Certainly the players they signed didn’t work out the way they intended and Dempsey could have been lumped in with them. By signing when it looks like there is still a very good chance they will be relegated, (he signed before today’s game as I understand it) he was probably able to get a better contract for his loyalty and willingness to stay with the team even if they go down.

    3. Aritotle! I’m right here! It took a day for me to settle down and actually be able to type. My eyes were glued to the sopcast player on my computer (which I needed to see the game and total focus was necessary). I have no fingernails left and lots of gray hair now, but I feel happy! One game left and Fulham needs to win. I hope Portsmouth decides to rest all the players for the FA cup since they have nothing left to play for.

Please accept my apology. When I looked at the post you were referring to as racist basically what I saw was this:

I’m getting so tired of people making everything into racism. You say the word black and some people will call you a racist. You disagree with a person of another race and some people will call you a racist. You don’t want to vote for a politician who is black, it must be because you are racist. I’ve seen co-workers getting into disagreements with people of another race and then being called racist when race didn’t even enter into the matter other than one of the people involved in the disagreement was of another race. It seems people have conveniently forgotten what the word racism actually means and have decided to use it to be self righteous or as a weapon in a dispute when they know they are wrong.

Anyway, when I saw the post you were referring to I thought you were calling it racist because he was using the name Barack Obama and saying he was an elitist. While injecting politics into a sports blog is not a good idea and I can see why someone would not want to see that, it certainly isn’t racist. Plenty of people here use the names of well known people when they post here, and not just sports figures. As you can see I use Aristotle. The only thing I could think of when I saw your comment was that you were calling him a racist because he called Barack Obama an elitist.

It figures that when I finally blow up and post something about someone injecting race inappropriately where it doesn’t belong that I missed something and end up being completely wrong!

When I saw the post I used the link to watch the highlights of Brian McBride’s goal which I missed. The racist term blended in with the link and I just looked at what followed as being the post. I usually don’t respond to something so strongly without looking carefully at the post I am responding to but the link kind of blended in with it and I missed it. Once again, I apologize. You were absolutely right and I understand that everyone should be offended by the term that was used.

    6. Aristotle: I’m not the guy using racist references and faking my sig as a politician. Tell me how I’m “stirring up hate” when I’m asking someone to *stop* using racist terms?

Any chance you could leave out your self righteous garbage? Why are you trying to stir up hate where there is none? Are you a politician? Save your political attacks for somewhere else. This is a sports blog.

    9. This new Nike Soccer commercial showing game action and training from a first person camera angle has been on FSC about a thousand times today. Still, it is an improvement over that Giuseppe Franco spot. Cheers to FSC for getting some new adds.

    10. I am not so sure Reading will have any easy time with Derby… after all it is there last game in the EPL… and if Fulham can beat Man City at Man City then they can beat Pompey at Pompey — who will surely rest key players for the FA Cup final! If anything I predict ties for both games and Fulham stay up…
