With the European season winding down and teams fighting desperately for championships, European places and survival in the top flight, this week of soccer action promises to be one of the most intense yet.

There are also some marquee rivalries that will be on display this weekend, including Boca-River and the Milan Derby. Oh, and there’s also Christian Gomez’s first match against D.C. United.

Here are the Top Five games to watch this weekend:

1. Inter Milan vs. AC Milan. The Milan Derby is always intense and always competitive.

2. Boca Juniors vs. River Plate. Not only is this always a great match with unreal atmosphere, it always features some young players who are a few years away from being worldwide stars.

3. Birmingham City at Fulham. Fulham MUST win to keep its hopes of avoiding relegation alive.

4. Everton at Arsenal. Tim Howard’s Toffees need a win here to hold on to its UEFA Cup place.

5. D.C. United at Colorado Rapids. Christian Gomez faces D.C. Unit

ed for the first time. Be there.

Comments

  1. The AR of the Fulham game has to be getting paid off. He called 3 offsides that visibly wasn’t. And then the center called a handball on Dempsey that hit where your shoulder connects to your chest. Fulham should be able to pull it out though.

  2. USAManUtd, the Newcastle/Chelsea game is not until Monday. But Man Utd/West Ham should at least be in the top five games to watch this weekend. If ManU drop any points things get very very interesting.

  3. How come you never list Mexican league games that are on Telefutura and Univision on the weekends? Atlas is playing Cruz Azul at 10:00pm on Saturday.

  5. Reading and the spurs should be great. Everything on the line for Marcus and Bobby and yes – I predict Bobby starts.

  6. Agreed with Matt & USAManUtd. West Ham always play Man U tough, especially when the game is of big importance!

    COME ON YOU IRONS!!!

  7. Good choices, but the United-WH game and the Chelsea-Newcastle came should be there ahead of the MLS match and the Everton-Arsenal match
