Ronaldinho to Milan still alive?

Ronaldinho_4_ap

Just when you thought AC Milan was finished considering Ronaldinho as a summer acquisition comes word from the Brazilian star that AC Milan is the only team he wants to play for.

I’m still trying to figure out why a Milan team with an aging midfielder thinks bringing on a player with fitness concerns is a good idea, but then again if Ronaldinho gets close to his old form back then a Ronaldinho-Kaka-Pato trio would be pretty amazing.

If Ronaldinho does go to Milan then at least one of their veteran midfielders will have to leave. Will it be Pirlo, Gattuso or Ambrosini? Is Clarence Seedorf as good as gone?

What do you think of Ronaldinho going to Milan? Would he be better off at Manchester City? Staying at Barcelona? Share your thoughts below.

  1. Prima Donna, Diva or not…special athletes get special treatment. Brett Favre had his own personal at Lambeau and openly refused to help that scab of rookie they drafted. He’s still loved and cherished.

Pay Ronnie and reap the benefits….

  2. I think it best he a dentist before he goes anywhere, but in all seriousness I believe he should stay put. If anybody needs to leave Barca its Henry. That would give the old trio of Eto, Messi and Henry another shot. One major issue: Health is obviously a concern for all three…

  3. Guys wether Ronnie regains his form isnt the question. The BIGGEST question is will his attitude remain poor. Alot of people think he’s all happy go lucky because he’s always smiling and seems to be having fun, but behind the scenes the guy is a real Primadonna. Refusing to train in certain occassions, faking injuries, not showing up to practices, demands special treatment above everyone else. He not only infuriated his coaches but his teamates with hiw attitude.

Thats what caused him to be benched NOT his poor form. Barca arent stupid they know that players have their ups and downs, and its wasnt a question of Ronnie being able to regain his form but will he continue to be a cancer on the team. And obviously they think he’s too much of an a-hole to keep him.

Maybe a change of scenery is what it is needed but if Ronnie finally grows up and becaomes a professional, there is no doubt he has the talent to rule the world again. If he continues his ways, look for him to never step on a field in Europe again.

  4. My dismay continues:

He’s 28, his injury last season was a torn muscle – not a ligiment or a meniscus. He scored 8 goals in 17 appearences in La Liga. The season before he put up his highest goal total of his career.

Yeah, you are all right. This guy would be a dumb signing. I’d rather pay a young unproven player a bunch of cash instead a former 2 time world player of the year who has had 1 down year in his career.

  5. People are acting like he’s been out of form forever. Is her really finished? Come on? No way…it’s Ronaldinho. IMO he still belongs at a big club. He’s not the type of player to mail it in. He will be back to his old ways in no time and who ever signs him will be lauded as genius’ for not giving up on perhaps the most brilliantly creative player in recent times.

He’s not going to Man City. He’s not going to any Argentine team. He’s not coming to the MLS. It’s Ronaldinho, one year of injuries and out of typical form. Sheesh…

  6. Chelsea was never considered a big club before Abramovich. They never won anything, and in Europe they didnt have any tangible success.

  7. Abramovich has not spent a billion dollars. A lot of money, yes…a billion…no. ๐Ÿ™‚

I bet that Jar-Jar sits out most of this year. Maybe goes and plays in Brazil, a la Riquelme going home. Maybe he stays on the Barca payroll but doesn’t see much of the field.

Think about this way. If you were writing the check, how much would you spend to get him? He may NEVER find anything close to his player-of-the-year form again. Many players never do ‘get it back’. I would pay more for Arshavin or Schweinsteiger right now than Ronaldhino.

  8. Does all the rumors matter? I guess so, it is the silly season.

In the end, he’s staying at Barca.

Delving in rumors like Ronnie to Boca Juniors is laughable.

  9. The best place he could go is Spurs…a team on the up that he would be the missing piece on the LW for them.

He could be the difference maker on a side on the bubble, and take allt he accolades that would go with pushing them into CL contention and a legitimate shot at the EPL.

Of course, no guarantees, but it’s a situation with a lot of potential.

  10. Chelsea was a decent sized club even before Abromavich, plus if you compare Shinawatra’s bank roll to Roman’s it isn’t even close. Roman has spent over $1 billion at Chelsea since he took over, Thaksin will not be doing that at Man City. Like I said above, I would like to see Ronaldhino at Man City and I would like to see Man City improve on this past seasons results so there is a bit more competition in the league, but I just don’t see them becoming as well supported or as well funded as Man Utd and Chelsea and to a lesser extent (based on funding) Liverpool and Arsenal. Also, comparing Man City to Leeds is a bad idea from a luck standpoint.

  11. Man City too small? Well, how do small clubs get big. They get a sugar daddy; Man City has one now. Money, that’s all it takes. Just look at Chelsea!

Wasn’t Leeds a big club, once? With Ronaldhino they will be on their way.

  12. Somehow, I think it is premature to rule Ronaldhino out.

He really only had one bad year. I am sure he will get back into form. A change could be what he is looking for to get back into his game.

  13. At this point I could care less, because Ronaldinho has yet to show any signs whatsoever of getting back to form, and Milan are still claiming poverty in terms of the transfer fee.

The only thing I’ll say is that I think Kaka would be waisted as a striker up top, and if he does go to Milan they might be better off playing both Ronaldinho and Kaka behind Pato in a 4-3-2-1 or something like that. I dunno, at this point I’m bored by the story, maybe I’ll care again once this whole transfer drama is over.

  15. definitely milan could use him. get rid of seerdorf, and keep ambrosini, pirlo, & gattuso. and play kaka & pato up front.

this still does NOT address the age issue, and they need youth @ MID to keep the starter’s legs fresh. also, a young forward is vital (i.e. pavliuchenko-russia).

DEF | Nesta, Khaladze, Jankulovski, Zambrotta

MID | Gattuso, Ambrosini, Pirlo, Ronaldinho

    FWD | Kakรก, Pato

  16. I think he should just pack it all in and start playing for the MLS.

MLS is closer to Brazil. I just do not think he has the drive or desire to play top flight football anymore. But since he is probably shooting for a Brazil roster spot at the 2010 World Cup, he will go to a big club.

  17. I would like to see him playing at the city of Manchester stadium just because I watch a lot more EPL than Serie A. That said, Ronaldhino to Man City just never made sense to me, Man City is a decent club, but a bit too small for someone like Ronaldhino. I would expect him in Italy or with Chelsea if he ends up in England. It would also be interesting to see him at a place like Bayern Munich with Schweinsteiger, Toni and Podolski.

  18. Ive’s, late to the party as usual. ๐Ÿ˜›

The latest rumor is Ronnie at Boca Juniors. Which is never gonna happen, but I’d be for it. With both Riqueleme and Ronaldhino, I’d finally get a chance to see Boca in person

I’d like to see the day South American clubs to keep their talent, rather than sell every half-decent player to pay the bills.

I’m sure that day will happen when theres peace in Colombia and the Peso is worth more than the dollar.
