Galaxy releases Abel Xavier

Major League Soccer has lost a great one. No, nobody died, I’m talking hairdos.

The Los Angeles Galaxy has waived Portuguese defender and veteran traffic cone Abel Xavier, the Washington Post’s Steve Goff reported today.

Hair stylists in every MLS market are saddened today. More details on when Sean Franklin’s party to celebrate this to come later.

What do you think about Xavier being let go? Hope to see him picked up by your team? Hope he winds up on a reality show?

  1. Xavier was stellar during his first few games — he was pulling the ball away like no body’s business — and first impressions go a long way in the MLS — then he started missing games because of his refusal to play on artificial turf (which was in his contract) — then he became a bit rusty. I recall him getting the captain’s band – when Beckam couldn’t play due to injury. He wasn’t a bad player and he had flair. I think had he played every week both he and L.A. would be better off.

  3. Ives,

I’ll agree with you, journalists cannot and should not be afraid to criticize poor performances. It just seemed to me that Xavier is the guy you make fun of more than any other player. And I’m not saying he doesn’t deserve it, he’s a lousy defender, all I was saying is it seems like he’s your most frequent target.

  4. We new he blew since he missed that PK at the Superliga game .

Ever since that night my roommate and I have been watching him dive into tackles like an amateur and let up goal after goal saying “WOW XAVIERS TERRIBLE FIRE NOW”

Now that Xavier is finally gone we’re going to pound 2 Tony Caigs of beer. GOOD GAME.

p.s. I’m guisseppe franco would I put my name on just anything if it didnt work?
