  1. Say what you will about JCO or any player, but I find it totally inappropriate to comment on his wife. It is extremely unrealistic to think one man, JCO can turn around a franchise so rapidly…ew bad choice of word, lol! People hang tough, have faith, in JCO we trust. p.s. um, arent jersey boys more stylin? Nobody does jean shorts, its cargos, long board shorts, or nadal capris!

  2. Wow… Touchy aren’t we? You are right. All of MLS is jealous of NYRB. There has always been some reason or another that the Jersey franchise was about to turn a corner and it never happened. I think this stadium is another.

  3. I agree that Echeverry is a short time fill in for Altidore’s loss. Think about it though, if you were the owners of this team and had a revenue stream a couple of years off, wouldn’t you wait until about now to start spending and acquiring some expensive quality players. The opening of Red Bull Park is about a year off (give or take a few months). The revenue stream will begin. Truthfully Arena composed the majority of the team.

    Things will change soon!

  4. I haven’t been keeping up with soccer the last couple of weeks. Been busy as hell at work amongst other things. Reading about this loss, I am so not surprised and, interestingly enough, I don’t feel anything. I guess since the team and organization doesn’t give a f**k, neither should I.

  5. This is going to keep happening until these new players arrive. the back line is atrocious ! Cichero is a good defender and much more athletic/tenacious than Boyens could ever dream of being. I hope he arrives soon. As far as Pietravallo is concerned, from what i’ve seen of him he looks like a very good DM. Theres plenty of video on youtube. with those two in the lineup, you’ll see alot less of those disgusting mistakes. These guys (Boyens, Goldwaithe) can’t mark their own man!

Osorio is pissed, and worst of all so is Angel.

  6. I’m a CO fan, was at the game last night, and I’d agree with Jon that the New Jersey Red Bulls’ midfield organization was somewhat lacking in composure. NJRB had a couple of chances that were easily stopped by Bouna, but their build-up overall was terrible, and when JPA came in he really had no service. CO could’ve won 6-0 last night if Cummings had finished. No more Jozy…what to do if you’re a New Jersey fan? Throw on some fake tanner, some jean shorts, an Armani Exchange t-shirt and your gold chain, and hit the Jersey shore, baby. You guys love it.

  7. Well how I said before JC OSORIO MUST GO NOW!!! he don’t nothing about soccer in the MLS to start a team check his experience of a coach……. is ZERO!!! sure he can be good for High school team or neighborghood, and Agoos…hahahahaaaaaaaaaaaa.. good defender..but nothing more making great $$$ thanks to his pal Arena!!

Reyna, Echeverry are another fiasco…sure I feel sorry for Angel..First Class player in the world..don’t deserve to be part of this third class team, RED BULLS wasting money only ..never learn in 12 years of been bad.

OSORIO BYE BYE amigo..AGOOS go to beach and stay there

  8. There’s a lot to be said in JCO’s statement that he can’t wait until July 15th to sign new players. It may have been his philosophy all along and that is why these players are not playing with heart. It appears that he never believed in this team from the start because he inherited them and now we have the result of that in their play. Although not everything can be blamed on a coach alone, I think that statement speaks volumes on the major disconnect within this organization from front office on down to the players.

  9. AND, I will agree with you that RBNY needs someone to control the pace of events better. I’m not sure CR is still that guy but the whole team does look a little disjointed out there when they get the ball.

  10. Everyone here is going to blast me for this. But the Red Bulls have no organization in the midfield. They’re missing Reyna. Stammler is having a great year, but he doesn’t have the technical or mental ability that Reyna provides. Reyna settles the game and no one else on the current roster can do that.

  11. Somehow, I bet the great Boyens gets spared the axe…

He must be good, tho. He’s from New Zealand!

Whatever. Just keep holding on ’til RB Park. Like the cat in the tree: “hang in there, baby”. ‘Cause we’re being treated like pre-teens spending our allowance on Webkins or something…

  12. I have been critical of Osorio at times this season but I believe that the answer is in changing the team and not the coach (contrary to what has been done in the past). If we have to suffer through a POS experience at Giants Stadium both in watching a team play lousy footbal and in fan treatment at the stadium, let’s get on with the slashing of those who don’t want to give it their all.

It was obvious that coach O has been “making his list and checking it twice”, so to speak even before these latest two embarassments. Remember, he inherited a lot of the chaff here.

His quote after the game speaks volumes: “I can’t wait for the 15th of July, when we can sign some players and make a very competitive team,” said Osorio. “Because at the moment, I think all of our players have had the chance to shine and stake a claim and a lot of them refuse to do that.”

Some of these guys shouldn’t sign any long-term local commitments!

Let the games begin! Give us a competitive team Red Bull>

  13. I’m not a RedBull fan, but Colorado always seems to play very well for the July 4th match, when they perennially get a sellout. There’s no excuse for getting beat so badly, however, even if you’re playing on the road in front of a packed house.

  14. I’m not a RedBull fan, but I am empathetic to you guys. I know after a week of losing to a third division side, and getting ripped apart by a team coached by Clavijo (which one is worse?) you must be steamed. But from a neutral standpoint, I think JCO is still the guy to get things turned around.

I do feel Haig is on the right track in calling out Agoos. Where is he, btw? I never see anything from him. Any solid organization needs leadership at the top, and I’m not so sure Mr. Agoos is that person for NYRB.

  15. I just want to congratulate the club and all of us fans. I’d also like to thank Red Bull for all the false hope. You could have just told us these were still the same old MetroStars.

Also thanks to everyone who took heart from a couple of half-assed draws in which we gave away the win. You have all proven yourselves correct. We should definitely take heart from terrible, terrible draws from now on. It always means improvement. Oh wait. My bad. We’re terrible. Still. And always.

  16. JCO knows this league (former A-league experience, MLS assistant, last year with Chicago) and had a big chunk of the offseason to form a new team. Okay, maybe you don’t get your first choice or a bump in the road happens. But this team has no depth, the talent brought in was weak–it is a less talented team than last year’s side and has less depth. Even if the new signings turn things around, it is not acceptable to tell fans and season ticketholders “pay for a half a season of schlock and sub-standard talent and TRUST us to turn it around.”

This is the absolute holy truth.

But there has never been much accountability with this franchise. The only consequence that ever comes from poor work is a long-overdue firing. And things seem, in many ways, far worse under Red Bull, who seem totally disinterested in the operations of the team, and are ignorant the fact that Jeff Agoos is incompetent and Osorio is either in over his head or doesn’t have the support he needs to be able to act on his decisions.

Someone needs to ask Agoos what his vision for the team is, and expect a comprehensive and intelligent answer. And if that answer isn’t given, and implemented, Agoos should be fired. Same deal for Osorio: either he has a plan, and should be given the power and resources to execute this plan, or he is incapable of meeting expectations.

But I get the feeling there ARE NO EXPECTATIONS: just keep stringing fans along until 2010, when the stadium will be open and the team can market accordingly. And that requires dishonesty of the sort we have seen for the first half of this year. So maybe, just maybe, Agoos and Osorio have been tasked with doing as much as they can with no resources or authority, but are told to mislead fans into thinking that positive changes are coming soon.

  17. “A new stadium built on a toxic waste dump is not going to change anything either.”

Well, that’s a totally irrelevant point, douchebag. No, the team needs to be better managed, but a stadium that allows the team to break even with an average attendance that is lower than their lowest average ever, does, in fact, change things. It changes the pool of potential investors, sponsors, and will be a much more pleasant place to see even a poor team play.

The “toxic waste dump” remark is just stupid and a lie.

Are you a DC fan? Jealous that your team’s lead investor has no reason to continue pouring money in, now that his plan to strongarm the District of Columbia into giving him $300 million won’t work? Jealous that DC United, already operating in the red, would be a failure if single entity were to end, and teams would be responsible for their own finances? Jealous that we won’t be dodging chunks of concrete falling from the overhangs?

The only thing to look forward to for NY fans is the new stadium. Giants Stadium is depressing enough when the team wins. It’s scummy and pathetic to try the Karl Rove-like tactic of attempting to attack your opponent at his area of strength. Loser.

  18. Could it be possible that the team just hates JCO? I mean seriously, it’s like they are trying to lose! I am tired of all the excuses from JCO on down.

  19. With hindsight, Arena was a bad choice. He wasn’t ready to come back and his decisions at outside back (giving up on Wynne and Dunnivant, going with Goldwaithe) were terrible. That said, the team had far more talent last year than this year.

Maybe the new acquisitions will turn things around. But that’s a terrible statement to make. Finally, this effort was p*sspoor. Colorado is a poor team in a terrible conference. RedBulls rested players in order to be ready for this. First a loss to a USL-2 team and now this. Ugh.

  20. The players have no belief in the team either… As much as I love watching them destruct it is almost become too easy.

A new stadium built on a toxic waste dump is not going to change anything either.

  21. Wake me up when they put a competitive team on the field. Enough is enough. I’ll go watch my fave A-League side in the meantime and await the start of the EPL.

    I can’t be a masochist anymore.

  22. Despicable. That was really quite terrible and the fact that we have allowed 14 goals in 3 losses to DC, CHI and COL this season is quite terrible. JCO/Agoos aren’t the only problems here, Arena left us in a mess and couldn’t get the team to do much save for get the ball to Angel.

Defense is terrible. Offense is unproductive. At 5-5-5, we look quite far more impressive than we are. We’re lucky to have not lost to Chivas last week, and this game SHOULD have been 7-0.

    We are just bad. B-A-D.

  24. One of the most feeble efforts EVER from this franchise.

    Total disgrace.

Here’s the saddest part: in the Open Cup, Osorio fielded a lineup even worse than this one, because they needed to rest up and prepare for this league game.

Maybe the new players will help this team, but the fact that Agoos and Osorio made a series of decisions that were so poor that these guys– literally one of the worst non-expansion squads in the history of the league, and even worse than some expansion teams– is unprofessional and a total insult to the fans.

An apology from Jeff Agoos, Juan Carlos Osorio, and the players should be offered.

If they don’t offer an apology, they should be fired. They have brought this franchise to a new low.
