Cristiano Ronaldo staying at Manchester United

The long and drawn-out saga between Real Madrid and Manchester United over Cristiano Ronaldo is over, and Ronaldo is staying put.

Ronaldo told Portuguese newspaper Publico that he will stay with Manchester United for the upcoming season after a lengthy meeting with Alex Ferguson, and that the decision to stay is his.

"Before rumours emerge saying that I will play against my will, I want to make this clear – whoever says or writes that is lying," Ronaldo said. "I will play for Manchester with all my heart and soul. I will fight and honour that shirt with the same commitment and dedication as always."

What do you think of this development? Do you believe Ronaldo? Do you think Man U fans will embrace him again? Do you think Ronaldo will make a move next summer?

  1. I actually believe him. I’m pretty sure Fergie said something along the lines of “Listen kid, we pay you absurd amounts of money and you’re still young. Just give me a little while longer, and you will have your chance to play for Madrid.”

You put it in that perspective, hell why NOT stay at the European Champions and make that money for a few more seasons? The money will always be there at Madrid.

  2. He’ll be gone next summer. Great player, but seems like a total pain in the ass to deal with. It always seems like there is some type of controversey following this prick each summer.

Three summers ago he was accused of rape

Two summers ago we had the world cup incident with Wayne Rooney

This summer we have this Real Madrid crap.

I wish ManU would have cashed in.

  3. He was never going anywhere. These rumors happen every summer and will continue to happen. Ronaldo will be at Utd until Fergie retires then he will move on.

  4. It’s just not fair: Slaves being told what to say…why didn’t he say he would be there for ALL the remaining years of his contract?

  5. So I guess we hold off on all the speculation for 9 or 10 months and then we start all over? As much as I love the kid, why would you want to go to Madrid now? Later in the career, ok, I can see it, but fresh off the season he had? I guess money is the root of all evil…

Just frustrating as a Reds fan…
