The Houston Dynamo’s scheduled CONCACAF Champions League match against Luis Angel Firpo on Wednesday has been postponed. The match, scheduled to be played at Robertson Stadium in Houston, will be re-scheduled following the extensive damage inflicted on the city of Houston.

"In light if the extensive damage and the citywide curfew in Houston, CONCACAF has postponed the match," CONCACAF General Secretary Chuck Blazer said in a statement released by CONCACAF. "This match will be re-scheduled for a future date. Details will be released once they are finalized."

The CONCACAF Champions League group stages kick off on Tuesday with the following match-ups:

  • Puerto Rico Islanders vs. Tauro FC (Panama)
  • D.C. United vs. Deportivo Saprissa (Costa Rica)
  • San Francisco FC (Panama) vs. UNAM Pumas (Mexico)

  1. Any chance that game can be rescheduled for November 23rd?

Just kidding, good luck with the recovery Houston (and the rest of the gulf).

  2. That sucks for Houston (not that it’s important in the grand scheme of things) but if their schedule is anything like DC’s, then rescheduling that game just make it harder for them.

  3. It seems the problem wasn’t necessarily with Houston playing (after all, the Dynamo played Saturday night at San Jose) but with them playing at home.

The Jamaicans switched their WCQ with Mexico on short notice… I wonder why flipping the venue of the Houston-San Luis Firpo game wasn’t done instead.
