The Los Angeles Galaxy visit Toyota Park tonight to take on the Chicago Fire in what amounts to a must-win match if LA hopes to resurrect its faint playoff hopes. The Fire will be looking to avoid a three-match losing streak, and a three-match skid against Western Conference opponents at that.
If you figure Chicago is the favorite being at home, think again. Chicago is one of just two teams (FC Dallas being the other) that doesn’t have more wins than losses at home. The Galaxy is coming off its first win in three months, but the way the offense looked against DC, coupled with how bad Chicago’s defense looked against FC Dallas, makes this one even more interesting.

wont deny that, but pointing out the flaws that LA has had all season, rather then lumping so much on the GK…. i mean even Guzan looked terrible for awhile when CUSA was playing poorly…
No, it’s not just wicks but at the same time, he’s over his head at this level.
Of course it wasn’t just Wicks
tough to blame wicks solely… i mean his defense blew it just as badly
And thus we see why 1) LA blows, and 2) won’t make the playoffs
Blanco is suffereing from a hip pointer which is also why on sunday he left at like the 60th minute
You’re not alone. Wicks is not MLS quality
Am I alone in believing that Wicks positioning cost LA at least one, if not two goals? He was, no doubt, busy tonight (due to the fantastic LA defense) but the guy is killing me! He needs to make more saves rather than punching it clear.
Wicks belongs back in AYSO
If Donovan was an MVP he would have atleast tied the game up. Oh Well, no more talk about that, Galaxy is done for! Haha
You guys need to lay off Donovan’s shots. The first was nearly an impossible angle.. if anything he should have let it go through his legs or something. The second shot is a difficult ball coming from over his shoulder and he still nearly put it in the upper V.
93rd minute- Offsides on Donovan.
Full Time.
Chicago wins 3-1.
Definitely a deserved win.
No its not normal for blanco to go straight to the showers. He hates to come out of games no matter what the situation is.
90th minute- yellow card to Roberts, I think. I missed it. Not that it matters much at this point.
3 minutes stoppage time.
Weird. Is it normal for Blanco to go right to the dressing room instead of to the bench when he gets subbed out? I take it he’s getting tired of MLS.
88th minute- Yellow card for McDonald, and Blanco is subbed out and Gutierrez coming in.
Holy moly … another chance goes begging. Franklin muffed a free header in front of goal. Beckham must be pulling his hair out.
86th minute- Bryan Jordan did well to earn a corner kick for the Galaxy.
Sean Franklin got his head on to it but he drove it towards the ground rather than on net.
His (Donovan’s) first look would have been tough for any forward. His second was a missed opportunity. I don’t think that proves he’s not ready for Europe though. There are players much better than LD who have missed better chances than those. His runs have been good.
