CONCACAF Abroad: Weekend Rewind

Marlon_king_1_ap

It wasn’t a great international window for the Jamaican national team, what with two World Cup qualifying losses and the firing of head coach Rene Simoes, but at least one Jamaican player rebounded well from the disappointment.

Marlon King delivered two goals in Hull’s 2-1 win vs. Newcastle on Saturday. King was one of three Jamaicans to score goals this weekend. Damion Stewart notched a goal for Queens Park Rangers while Luton Shelton tallied for Valarenga. Now if only whoever the new Jamaica national team coach is (word is Theodore Whitmore is the front-runner) can harness some of this goal-scoring maybe the Reggae Boyz can turn things around in World Cup qualifying (okay, maybe not).

Here is how the rest of CONCACAF’s European-based players did this past weekend:

CANADA

COSTA RICA

GRENADA

HONDURAS

JAMAICA

MEXICO

TRINIDAD & TOBAGO

If there are any players who you think should be included in the list please feel free to pass on their information and I will include them. Keep in mind that I will focus on top first divisions in Europe with the second divisions in England and Germany also being included (I will also look to add Serie B as well as the Spanish second division if possible). There may be players in very small leagues (like say Moldova or Poland) but my inclusion of players in those leagues is contingent on being able to find a reliable source of information on those leagues.

Feel free to share your thoughts on these performances in the comments section below.
