The Red Bulls-Crew game isn’t the only action in MLS tonight. There are three other matches with major playoff implications taking place. Here is the slate of games:
- San Jose Earthquakes at Kansas City Wizards
- Los Angeles Galaxy at Houston Dynamo
- FC Dallas at Real Salt Lake

Ignoring the announcing and music, looks like RSL is getting great support at the new stadium
i couldn’t watch the entire rsl game last night. It’s so bush league to have the PA announcing talking throughout the match and to have music playing. It was like watching arena league football. I hope that isn’t going to become a trend throughout the league.
Actually, a Crapids tie or loss will guarantee RSL 3rd place, they must win tomorrow to keep their hopes alive. A tie or loss, and they are eliminated from the playoffs, and the East will have 5 teams in.

COL (34), vs. RSL
I believe RSL did not offically clinch it tonight. Only if Colorado loses tomorrow, then they will have the Western Conference’s 3rd spot.
Dallas is eliminated! RSL is in!
Ok, so, there’s basically KC, DC, and NYRB in the hunt, realistically. There’s Dallas and Colorado with an outside chance, needing help and a win out.
NYRB wins and they’re in. KC wins and they’re in. That’s simple enough, but unlikely.
NYRB has the Fire
KC has the Revs
DC has the Crew.
All 3 are away, all 3 playing the top 3 seeds in the east. All 3 are not easy games.
DC must win in order to get in. 38 points put them 1 behind, and that’s not enough. They need 40.
KC, with 39, has the tiebreak over NYRB. KC split the series with DC, both winning 2-0 at home, so the tiebreak is GD, with KC holding a 4 goal advantage. Effectively, they have their fate in their hands. 42 points puts them in, like I said. Even a draw, appears, puts them in, as they have both tie breaks over the two teams.
NYRB, also with 39, seems to have a 5 goal advantage over DC in the tiebreak department. So, 40 seems to be enough provided DC doesn’t win big verse the crew.
It’s possible for a mind blowing 3 way tie if KC and the RB draw, and DC wins. All would have 40 points. In such a senario, I think DC is the odd team out, losing on goal differential to both teams.
Phew. Ok, so, am I doing this right? Someone double check me.
Are you kidding me? What an entertaining (and great) game for The Wiz. KC gets the game-winning goal in the 93rd (and final) minute of play. I wish it wasn’t played at the same time as RBNY and the Crew. I would have liked to watch it all.
Next week is going to be very interesting…starting with The Red Bulls (and of course JCO) heading to the not-so-friendly confines of Toyota Park with the Fire able to keep the ‘Bulls out. If you’re one for fun storylines, this is a nice bit of luck with the schedule here.
Bryan Jordan … he finally scored a goal! Oh wait, it was into his own net. How is it this guy is starting in such an important game?
GOAL SAN JOSE!
2-2!
Hold the score quakes! Please please please.
Could the Red Bulls be deducted points for having two players involved with steroids for the majority of they year?
Gordon comes close – header off the crossbar.
I turned on LA v Houston 20 minutes into the game. 3-0 Houston. Better luck next year, Galaxy.
