Good evening folks. The second series in the Western Conference playoffs has kicked off at Rio Tinto Stadium, with Real Salt Lake playing host to Chivas USA.

The game is already well under way (scoreless at halftime actually), but if you are watching please feel free to share your thoughts, opinions and some play-by-play in the comments section below.

  1. I really enjoyed watching this match on that tremendous field. A few thoughts:

I wish the field was a little larger.

Also, I was very disapointed that this match only drew 15K for the first playoff match at that facility. How could they not fill the place?

Great, great goal by RSL. Chivas will have to lift their game a notch to beat a determined RSL.

  2. RSL thoroughly dominated today and should be taking a 2 or 3 goal lead into the HDC. I thought Braun was the most dangerous player for Chivas besides Klesjan, but Olave kept him under wraps. Yes, the refereeing was atrocious. It was horribly one sided. He took a goal away from Yura for winning the ball on a fair shoulder charge. I don’t know how many time Morales was kicked high up on his ankles and calves, but it was a lot. Every time the ref motioned to play on.

I love that the Chivas fans were lighting off fireworks and celebrating the tie when Yura scored.

  3. Just got back from the game. RSL totally dominated the run of play. 90% of the game was played in Chivas side of the field. Local boy Braun looked horrible, totally out of his depth for Chivas. Beckerman had a fantastic game, as did Morales and the central defense. Joy and Wingert on the wings had somewhat off games, their services were not great. It easily could have been 2 or 3 to 0, if RSL had finished its chances and the ref had half a clue.

This ref never ran more than 20 yards from the half field line. I don’t know where the MLS gets these clowns but at least they should put in some effort to stay up with the play.

  4. Is Max Bretos actually saying words, or does he just shout random sounds?

Other than him – this has been a very attractive game.

And WOW! Talk about sneaking in a gaol! RSL score in the 90th1
