This weekend’s soccer on TV

Jose Mourinho can’t be a happy man.

Not only is he facing heat from the Italian media because his Inter Milan isn’t dominating Serie A, but Mourinho is also trying to pick up the pieces after a somewhat embarrassing 3-3 tie vs. Anorthosis Famagusta in Champions League play.

Mourinho and Inter could go a long way toward restoring some of the respect they’ve lost in recent weeks by beating Udinese, the same team they are currently sharing second-place with in Serie A.

Inter-Udinese is just one of several quality matches to watch this weekend. Here is a rundown of this weekend’s soccer on TV, along with the top matches to watch:

Top Five Matches to Watch

1. Manchester United at Arsenal. The struggling Gunners face the red-hot Red Devils in a match worth waking up early for.

2. Udinese at Inter Milan. Inter’s defense is coming off a stinker, but playing in Milan should help in this Serie A showdown.

3. Kansas City Wizards at Columbus Crew. Can the Crew, the best team in MLS during the regular season, avoid the upset? Expect an entertaining encounter with several goals.

4. Bayern Munich at Schalke 04. Seperated by just one point in the Bundesliga standings, Bayern and Schalke both need to win this one to try and close the gap with first-place Hoffenheim.

5. Tottenham at Manchester City. The suddenly red-hot Spurs face off against equally red-hot Robinho and the Citizens at City of Manchester Stadium. Can Harry Redknapp’s boys keep the streak going?

  1. Well, is it fair to say that this game is critical for Arsenal? Playing at home, I feel that they need to get a minimum of a point or they will already be out of the championship hunt. Of course, as a Chelsea fan, I hope it ends as a draw.

Intriguing match of the week is Tottenham-Man City. Spurs are playing better under Uncle ‘Arry and Man City is simply impossible to predict from week to week.

    Cheers,

  2. It still amazes me how much soccer you can watch nowadays. It doesn’t seem that long ago when the only match I could catch each week would be the one La Liga match ESPN2 would show tape delayed on Monday afternoon. How much has changed since those days.
