  1. yeah, kljestan looked bad defending morale son the 2nd goal, but maybe he just got forzen by javier’s skills. seriously, very nice finish from jm, cutting away from kljestan and then tuckiing through the 2nd defender’s legs (was that thomas with the wide stance begging to be megged?). of course thornton was somewhat screened, not expecteding the shot to come through the defnder and had no chance as it was nicely placed in the lower far post corner. all around a classy play from the rsl mvp.

  2. It has been clear by the officiating during the RSL vs. Chivas series that not only were FSC pulling for Chivas, but the officals were pulling for the goats as well. Explain how Harris can have 9 fouls without a yellow card, or how he can stomp on Olave’s ankle in clear view of the 4th offical and not get carded or even a foul called.

RSL had to battle against 12 men in both legs of this one and proved both times to be the better team. This was the most exciting series I can remember in MLS with non stop action in both matches.

RSL played New York to a draw a couple weeks ago, but had a lot of distractions, this matchup should be exciting as the two battle it out. Can’t wait.

  3. I am going with a group of people this weekend to the big game. RSL is going back to L.A. and will hoist the cup! Wow, what an amazing season. If we do pull this off hopefully we aren’t like the Rockies where we are awful for our entire existence, have one good playoff run, and go back to our old ways.

  4. Yeah, RSL…whocares has a great point! Have fun getting your a$$ handed to you by Houston, because it’s not going to happen. Go Red Bulls! RSL v NY should be a good match.

  5. Intense? Take a look at other professional sports, do the sudden death/overtimes = the number of draws the mls teams have? Nope, mls teams have as many draws as they do Ws or Ls. I am not wanting to go to draw breakers, but each team could actually try harder or go for the win. They all play to sit back and not get a L. Arena’s philosphy- dont go for it.

  7. I think the NFL regular season is fairly intense, due to the fact they only have 16 games, and every single one is critical. On the second RSL goal, it looked to be a combination of Morales making a great move and Sacha not wanting to commit a foul in the box. Can anyone say “ole'”?

  8. Some follow up comments…

Name any sport where the regular season is as intense as the playoffs. It just doesn’t happen and for good reason.

As for rsl not getting nominated for awards…sometimes those things seem to happen a year later. So if kries does a good job again next year he might get nominated even if its not as good of a performance as this year was.

Finally…can anyone offer up any excuse for the lack of defending from sasha k on the 2nd salt lake goal? He literally rolled out a red carpet for the dude! Incredible that he just stayed out of the way rather than attempting to defend the teams season.

  9. RSL is not overachieving. They have been building towards this all year. This team was 85% overhauled last year and they have been continuing to gel all year long. They have a 7 game unbeaten streak.

  10. The Chivas (and RSL)fans were great tonight. Great atmosphere, fierce battles, quality goals. Very good match to watch. And whoever says Yura sucks has no clue what they are talking about.

  11. I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought Sullivan wanted Chivas to win…Terrible officiating as well, the game got out of hand early and was very chippy going down the stretch, but a great result for RSL!

  12. RSL is fun to watch. Beckermann is an absolute warrior and Morales has incredible creativity. They’re probably overachieving, but it’s a neat story. They seem to have good fans too, looked like they had quite a few at the HDC.

  13. I swear…i seriously missed both Chivas goals and now the end of the game. Whatever.

Good game. I was pulling for Chivas but RSL played great and deserve the win. Kreis has done an amazing job with that team.

  14. RSL makes their first second round. Chivas missed a few amazing shots at the end. Rimando >> Thornton.

Christian Miles and the FSC crew are usually amusing.

  15. Okay, I picked up the spanish stream and its over, RSL wins it. Preki looks like he could kill a man. That was one of the better MLS games I’ve ever seen, up there with the DCU-Fire second leg last year.

  16. Braun’s goal was a “nice shot of injection to the Chivas bench”

Hahaha that’s the cherry on top of a sundae of amusing announcer lines tonight.
