SBI European Goals of the Week

Alessandro_del_piero_1_ap

Let’s face it. Finding video clips of Europe’s best goals isn’t always easy.

You have EPL clips that come and go due to rights issues, with the same applying for the German Bundesliga. Luckily for us, it seems to be fairly easy to find the best goals in Spain and Italy on a regular basis.

With that in mind, here are three of the weekend’s best goals in Europe, including Alessandro Del Piero’s absurd 35-yard free kick cannon. (I will add to the collection as I find more top goal clips, and will post a poll at some point today):

Alessandro Del Piero’s long-range free kick blast

Claudio Bellucci’s back-heel game-winner (look familiar?)

Xavi’s perfect curling free kick

If you have any goals from the weekend in Europe that you think deserve to make the Top Five, please share your suggestions below and I will look for clips to round out the list.

  1. MemRook — thanks for the link. That goal by Mareval for Nantes is the best goal I have ever seen, ever. He hit that thing on a dead sprint with no bend from about 40 yards and put it so far upper left 90 that if it’s another inch higher, or to the left, it doesn’t go in. I watched it, like, four times. Phenomenal.

  2. I nominate Rory Delap basically throwing it into the net AGAIN.

I can’t wait for a defender to purposefully clear the ball out for a corner rather than out of play for a throw in.

  3. David Suazo’s goal for Benfica was very nice. Also, it was Benfica’s 5,000 goal of the league…pretty cool a CONCACAF player got it.
