This weekend’s soccer on TV

Admit it, after spending the recent Thanksgiving Holiday indulging in food and family time, you are ready to sit in front of a TV all weekend and watch some good soccer. Well, if that is your plan then this is your weekend.

Some of the biggest rivalries in Europe kick off this weekend, as well as some strong match-ups with major table implications from Germany to Spain. Arsenal-Chelsea and Man Utd-Man City are two of England's greatest rivalries and both will deseserve your attention.

If the end of the MLS season has you craving some non-European soccer to watch then what better soccer to watch than the Mexican playoffs? They even include an MLS player in Cuauhtemoc Blanco and a U.S. national team player in Michael Orozco.

If you need help making your weekend soccer viewing plans, you know you can count on SBI to have the international soccer knowledge to steer you in the right direction. So here are the Top 10 matches to watch on TV this weekend, as well as the schedule of soccer matches on TV:

Top 10 Matches to Watch

1. Arsenal at Chelsea. The London Derby is a must-win for the Gunners, who are in danger of losing touch with the Top Four with a loss. The Blues need a win to stay ahead of Liverpool and keep its lead on Man Utd. The Lampard-Fabregas battle is always a can't-miss encounter.

2. Napoli at Inter Milan. Jose Mourinho has Inter in first place but its poor Champions League showing should have Napoli thinking upset. Inter's defense has allowed just seven goals, but stopping the dynamic duo of Ezequiel Lavezzi and Marek Hamsik won't be easy.

3. Manchester United at Manchester City. You might think that City's struggles and Man Utd's firepower would make this a mismatch, but you can never assume that in the Derby. Man City is unbeaten at home this year while United has just two wins from seven road games this season. The Robinho-Ronaldo duel will be worth the price of admission.

4. Barcelona at Sevilla. Barca has been the best team in Europe this year, but a Sevilla win could pull them to within just two points of Barcelona in the standings. Sevilla is tough at home but Barcelona has won five of six on the road this year. Stopping Barca's high-flying attack won't be easy, but the strike tandem of Kanoute and Fabiano gives Sevilla a chance of winning a shootout.

5. Bayern Munich at Bayer Leverkusen. Suddenly red-hot Bayern can move a step closer to first place by beating third-place Leverkusen on the road. With Franck Ribery playing at his best these days, Bayern has the firepower to cruise in this one.

6. Everton at Tottenham. These two teams got off to bad starts to the season but both have rebounded well. Everton can move closer to the Top Five with a win while streaking Tottenham has aspirations of reaching the top half of the table by Christmas.

7. Santos Laguna at San Luis. Just when you thought you wouldn't get to see more of Cuauhtemoc Blanco this year, the Mexican maestro has moved on loan to join Santos' playoff drive. A first-leg win (2-0) has Blanco's team in good shape, but Michael Orozco's San Luis is good enough to erase the deficit in this playoff match-up.

8. Fulham at Aston Villa. Remember when you would have laughed at the thought of Aston Villa being in the Top Four and Fulham being in the top half of the table? Well, laugh no more. Can Clint Dempsey put some shots on Brad Friedel? Fulham fans should temper expectations though, the Cottagers are winless on the road this year.

9. Paris St. Germain at Rennes. Can Carlos Bocanegra and the stingy Rennes defense slow down the red-hot PSG attack in this match-up of fourth-place teams? It will be worth watching to find out.

10. Fiorentina at Roma. Remember a year ago, when this match-up would have been a lock Top Three match? Yes, well, so do Roma fans, who are enduring a terrible Serie A season. That aside, Roma still has the weapons to put on a good show at home and make things difficult for the VIola.
