Beckham introduced in Milan

David Beckham's Italian holiday began on Saturday as the LA Galaxy midfielder was introduced by AC Milan, kicking off his short loan spell with the Italian club.

Beckham is set to be available for Milan for its January 11th match against Roma in Rome.

According to Beckham's PR folks, the English star will be available for 10 Serie A matches and two UEFA Cup matches before returning to MLS in time for the Galaxy's season-opener on March 22.

What do you think of Beckham's loan move? Do you see him getting major minutes with Milan? Are you believing reports about Milan trying to buy him next year? Who does Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani (pictured above) looks more like, Uncle Fester from The Addam's Family or Bob Rebadow from Oz?

  1. I saw the Milan v. Udinese game this weekend and it was said he will be introduced on January 7. My birthday has been ruined. 🙁

  2. Not sure this can hurt the image of MLS. If he fails at Milan, no problem. He failed the last 1/2 to 2/3rds of the season in L.A. If he succeeds at Milan, then maybe MLS is better than Serie A, given than he was horse$hit most of the season for L.A.

  3. Beckham will never come back from Milan. He will either sign with them or go back to the EPL. His Galaxy days are over! Milan has enough $ for transfer money.. MLS is a joke!

  4. This is a total PR/jersey selling move for AC Milan. For the incredibly selfish Beckham he thinks it will be enough to retain a spot with England. This does the Galaxy and the MLS no favors. Quite honestly it must be embarrassing for the MLS. This guy has played on one of the worst teams in the MLS for the past two years. Supporting cast or lack there of it says alot about him.

  5. I think this move will reflect badly on the quality of MLS play. Beckham is doing it for business reasons, not soccer reasons and it’s not good.

  6. This is a terrible move for MLS. How much do you want to bet that Beckham gets injured either playing for Milan or he gets injured or complain that he is injured and can’t play for the Galaxy.

    Predictions:

    2008: 10-12 games for Milan
6-8 games for Galaxy (Injury Prone)

Milan buys Beckham in the summer transfer window.

  8. Beckham’s skills have been eroding steadily for the past 3 years, hence his move to the MLS. This move to AC will only magnify how average he has become. It’s a bad move for him at this stage of his career. He needs to concentrate on being successful in L.A. So far he has been a disappointment on the field. He brings fans out, no doubt, but not much longer at the level he is playing.

  9. Garber just through up.

    Beckham:
“But I have always said that I would always miss playing at the highest level. I’m not saying that in America they won’t get to the highest level – it will take time and it will happen. But with five months off during the season I personally can’t do that.

“I needed to be able to be playing top-flight football to keep myself fit, to keep myself in contention for other things that are going on.”
