CONCACAF Abroad: Weekend Rewind

Kenwyne Jones (AFP)

By GIANFRANCO PANIZO

What a week for Trinidad & Tobago's Kenwyne Jones. The Sunderland forward scored twice in a span of two minutes to lead his club to a 4-0 thrashing of West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

His Trinidadian teammates had mixed weekends. Carlos Edwards participated in Sunderland's impressive demolition as a second half sub while Dwight Yorke did not get an opportunity to showcase his skills.

Mexican fans don't have many positives to talk about this week as their Euro-based contingent struggled individually and collectively. Only Hector Moreno and Rafael Marquez participated in victories, with Moreno being subbed off after only 20 minutes of action. Onn the other hand, Marquez was defensive stalwart for Barcelona as he aided them in preserving their dominating shutout victory in 'El Clasico' vs Real Madrid.

The other tandem of Mexican defenders in Europe, Carlos Salcido and Ricardo Osorio, both went the full 90 for their respective sides while both sides settled for draws. On the offensive side of things, Costa Rican Bryan Ruiz and Jason Scotland of Trinidad and Tobago were the only other players to tally a goal this weekend.

Here's how the other CONCACAF Abroad contingent did this past weekend:

CANADA

COSTA RICA

GRENADA

HONDURAS

JAMAICA

MEXICO

TRINIDAD & TOBAGO

What did you think of this week's results? Happy to see Jones recapture his scoring touch? Impressed with Marquez's performance against Real Madrid? Glad to see Carlos Salcido back in the starting lineup and playing regularly for PSV?
