If you love soccer, vote for SBI

Logo2

Just when you thought we were done with the shameless self-promotion and lobbying for votes, SBI is back to count on you, the American soccer fan, to make your sport gets the respect it deserves.

Yes, I know, that last sentence was just a little overboard, but I wanted to get your attention and let you know that thanks to you, the SBI Readers, Soccer By Ives has moved into second place in the Best Sports Blog competition being sponsored by the 2008 weblog awards. The competition features a veritable who's who of American sports blogs, from Deadspin to The Big Lead (and some site called Kissing Suzy Kolber).

As the lone soccer representative, we at SBI are committed to making a run for first place. Do your part and think of it as your chance to help soccer beat out the usual suspects of football, baseball and basketball. Think about all the times you've watched sports shows or opened up a sports section only to find no soccer coverage. Think of the all the future soccer players in America and what a victory would mean for them.

Yes, I am kidding, so stop laughing.

Be sure to cast your vote for change, for soccer and for SBI, at the 2008 weblog awards website. Spread the word and remember that you can vote once a day until the polls close on Tuesday.

  1. I’m sorry but this is hopeless. Ives doesn’t have a single picture of a buxom babe on his front page. How is he supposed to compete with KSK? I went to that web site for the first time and I had a hard time telling it was a sports blog. Is sex a sport now? They should be disqualified.

  2. Ives,

“Think about all the times you’ve watched sports shows or opened up a sports section only to find no soccer coverage.”

While this may be funny now we lived with it for many years.

I’m doing my part for soccer and SBI.

  4. ‘A vote for change?’ are you Barrack Obama all of a sudden Ives? Then again the way you run this site definitely pleases the public who read it so if you were to come in first place, it would be the best way to start off the new year.

  5. Actually, now that I think about it, the best sports blog out there is TrueHoop, but it’s not on there. So I’ll defer to soccer.

  6. I voted for you Ives, in part because of the great soccer coverage, but also in large part because kissing suzy kolbert as a concept, image, and idea is disgusting 🙂

  7. Not only is it NOT clever, but it also makes me feel like a 12 year old boy that knows NOTHING about sex. At least, that is how the bloggers come across. It isn’t even a sports blog. It’s crap.

  8. Yes we can? P.S. I really don’t see the big deal about the Kissing Suzy Kolber blog, it really is not that interesting or clever.
