Soccer Saturday: Your Running Commentary

Good morning all. There is a full slate of soccer action on TV today, with FA Cup games and Serie A clashes leading the schedule.

From the early-morning Fulham-Swansea City match, to Barcelona's latest attempt to maintain its unbeateable form, there is something for everybody to watch. U.S. soccer fans will be especially interested in the Bayern Munich-Hertha Berlin match, which should feature Landon Donovan.

  1. Oh, and please get off the “testosterone” bit. Whether or not (do we even know?) LD was with his wife on Wednesday night had nothing to do with his play. Two transatlantic flights in 5 days and playing in a 90 minute WCQ against your arch rivals would have made the effect on his game.

    I was just pointing out to Ben that Donovan being away from his wife on Valentine’s Day had zero effect on his game. He’s always been away on Valentine’s Day; it was a nonfactor.

    Sheesh. And that’s a big IF on Luca Toni being there for that shot. LD doesn’t get the benefit of the IF, neither does Luca Toni.

    and they can call for Poldi all they want; it’s as much Poldi’s fault as anyone. He could have been ready but chose to sulk for weeks on end cause Klinsi didn’t let him play. Funny to me how his “flu” lasted until he got his wish of a transfer. Other players had the flu too but got over it in a few days. Whatever.
