Soccer Sunday: Your Running Commentary

Fernando Torres

If Liverpool is to have any hope of catching Manchester United for the English Premier League title, the Reds will need a win today against Manchester City (10am, FSC).

That clash is the marquee match of the day, with City trying desperately to salvage its own season and Liverpool trying to keep alive its slim title hopes.

There are other matches worth seeing, including the Bayer Leverkusen-Hamburg tilt (GolTV, 11am) and Napoli-Genoa (FSC, 5pm).

If you will be watching any of today's action on TV (or online), please feel free to share your thoughts, opinions and some play-by-play in the comments section below.

Enjoy the action.

  1. This one is for Aristotle and Kizz. An actual post off of Fulham’s website on the downfall of EJ. Enjoy as I know you will.

From Eddie Johnson was bought by Fulham , he was not given the chance he needed to succeed . I have never seen a striker get three games and become a prolific scorer of goals. Drogba was ineffective at Chelsea because he was not given the chances that he was given in the past. Zamora, Fulham’s new striker was given five months to get one goal, but
Eddie Johnson was only given three games to prove himself.Hodgson is the same coach who was involved in the careers of these two strikers.
Fulham’s manager then decided to send Eddie Johnson down to Cardiff to a coach who played him the same amount of games. Johnson has only played in one full game and he has been brought on at the 85th minute and beyond.Cardiff manager and Fulham’s manager has made an effort to keep Johnson on the bench. If Fulham felt that Johnson was supposed to be their future striker, then Johnson would have been sent to some place where they would be interested in playing him.I believe Hodgson and American Johnson has a personal problem .I believe Hodgson thinks that Johnson is too not humble enough. The Manchester United game showed that Zamora was incapable of being a very good striker. With Zamora at the head , the chances of scoring were very few. The Swansea game showed the inability of the two strikers to out play Championship strikers .Fulham’s coach has conspired with Cardiff’s coach to keep the American striker from succeeding in the English football leagues. I believe this is a plot to keep Johnson down and ruin his career because of personal disagreement.”

  2. Stop arguing dude, Jay-Jay is right. Rennes is 7th right now and you see them going above Bordeaux? No comment to you anymore… Bordeaux plays Lorient next week, Lyon host Rennes at Stade Gerland, good luck to Bocanegra.
Practically there for GOOCH, sure, lol.
Standard Liege was hammered by Sporting Braga last week 3-0, they have to win convincingly to expect any decent run in UEFA Cup.
Guys I cannot get into discussions with most of you because you think every American should be starting in Europe, you are not realistic and who ever posted that conspiracy piece, that was HILARIOUS!!!! LMAO, LOL, that was good comedy.
Jay-Jay, Bradley should to leave Monchengladbach, horrible club that once was a big name in Germany. Some team will come for him.
Donovan can play for middle table teams in the top leagues sure, but dreaming of a start at Bayern or any of the top boys is nothing but that A DREAM. Have a good week guys

  3. Actually Rennes won yesterday so now they’re 4th or 5th. It’s a tight race in France for the Europe spots but i’m sure Rennes will make it. I peg them making it to 4th with Lyon, Marseille and PSG as top3. Regardless pretty damn good for a small club.

Gooch will probably head to PSG. He’s already practically there. With another league title and a decent UEFA Cup run, he’ll be there.

  4. EJ is heading to Malmö in the Swedish league. I think he would be a decent star here. Shame but you never know. Maybe he can have a decent career playing in Scandinavia over the next decade. Would always get him a free pass to show his stuff in the winter friendly.
