  1. Everybody around here is focused on the EPL and missing the all around absurdness that is Messi lately. 25 Goals and 11 assist at the halfway mark. That’s just absurd. Also, he’s the one getting the clutch goals. Guy came off the bench touched the ball twice and tied the game and then got the winner.

According to Sport since he debuted with the first team in 2004, Barca has NEVER lost a game in which he has scored. That’s just obscene. Talk about being a Talisman.

  2. Nice game for Torres!

What the hell has possessed Messi!?

He scored a brace coming off the bench within minutes of coming in. He is undoubtedly going to be the world player of the year this year. Ronaldo deserved it last year. But no one else is on the level of Messi.

I’ve never been a Messi lover, always respected him, but now I am on his ship, he is going to lead Argentina next year, hope the US isn’t drawn in their group.

  3. 48th minute- Beckham gets his second assist by hitting a perfect free kick to the back-post, where Ambrosini races on to head it home. 2-0 to Milan, both goals set up by Beckham passes.

  4. Folks, David Beckham just set up AC Milan’s first goal with a perfect ball in to Pato. As for Jozy Altidore, he did not play today for Xerez, which won 2-0.

  5. Just watched the game again to see how great Alex was. Cant really fault him for the Torres goal as it was Terry who let Torres roam free to come on the blind side of Alex. The guy is a rock. If everyone played with as much focus and grit as him, Chelsea mightve snuck a point today. Anybody willing to place money on the fact that next year Carvalho and Alex will be the starting CB tandem. I would. Ive had it with JT. He seems to have another partime job as the unofficial referee review board as every time a teammate is booked he feels compelled to get a second booking for dissent. Also, it seems Peter Cech has not been the same since dropping that cross during the Euros. He was lucky that no LFC player followed the Mascherano shot in the first half which he spilled 8 yards in front of him. That blunder by Ashley Cole was dumb. I guess thats what happens when you have no competition for your spot any more, now that Bridge is gone. Say what you want about him, but a player always plays better knowing his spot is NOT guaranteed. Makes you more focused.

My personal MOTM–Benayoun. The guy is a gamer. Completely changed the flow of the game coming on. Torres got the goals, but Benayoun changed the match.

My personal Worst MOTM–Bosingwa. Never mind the studs to the back incident. Chelsea down 1-0 pressing forward with numbers for a equalizer. The guy tries a “hero shot” from 35 yards, on his off foot. WHAAT? Maybe against West Brom fool, but not Pepe

Announcer comment of the game–“There’s Riera, once again showing a complete lack of a right foot”

  6. doug, I completely agree with you. Riley was horrendous and there were other examples. That yellow on Bosingwa was a bad call, he should have called some fouls in the first half when things were getting ridiculous…it wasn’t a matter of letting the game flow because there was no flow, probably others in addition to the big ones you mentioned. Either way…Torres and Gerrard are so good

  7. 3 things about the game

    1. Gerrard shouldve been sent off in the first half for the ball kicking incident on Bosingwa

    2. Lampard’s red card was at best ridiculous, at worst the FA should investigate Mike Riley to see if he placed a halftime bet on Liverpool

    3. Bosingwa shoudlve been red carded and banned for 3 games. Studs in the back of a player? Thats bush league stuff

Nevertheless, my Reds get all the points and stay close to Man U who have 4 games in the space of 12 days coming up this week
