  1. Is it just me, or is that the second time a defender tries to head the ball clear and misses while leaving the opposing striker wide open giving him time to score?

  2. As far as I know, I don’t think the USL has a salary cap… but most of the teams do not make enough profit to spend big money on players

  3. I am not sure about FMF dictating the Champions League schedule. Most leagues in the CONCACAF region play the typical August to May schedule, except for MLS and USL.

  4. Wow Ching misses a sitter header by his standard….great move by Ashe and nice chip cross…I bet Kahuna wants that one back…

  5. i would love to use the bad timing excuse but you cant considering usl has the same scheduling conflicts…i do wish they could find a way to push back these knockout games by even just two or three weeks…so mls and usl teams have more preseason behind them…also playing 6 games in 6 weeks during the last 6 week stretch of the regular season is rough as well…they should try to space it out 2 weeks games than 1 week off…

it seems as if fmf dictated the scheduling since theyre the most powerful voice in the region…im unabashedly looking at this issue through mls eyes but i think its in everyones best interests to have the mls teams represent well in this competition to actually give it some juice in the american market

  6. Dynamo is being out-played. Atlante’s midfield seems to be significantly stronger.. On the other hand, I think it could Houston could pull a couple because they do seem to be pressing and getting the ball inside the box…if only they could find someone to finish.

  7. Houston will be fine in the league, since they only care about the MLS regular season and playoffs anyways.

Every MLS team in the competition has sucked! New England lost to Joe Public from the Caribbean. Chivas USA lost to Tauro from Panama. DC United finished bottom of the group. Houston, the only team that squeaked by in the group stage, is getting embarrassed by Atlante.

MLS teams have clearly displayed that the regular season is more important than an “INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION”. I have no idea why I still support this league. 🙁

  8. Man let’s see if the Dynamo can come up with better stuff offensively this next half. Julius James isn’t quite used to playing with these guys and its only made worse by the s-l-o-w defenders Kinnear put out there today.

It looks like it will be a long season indeed for my boys…

  9. The scary thing is, Kamara and Mullen are Houston’s best players tonight. Ching has been invisible, Clark looks lost (again), and oh my, Weibel + Barrett = epic failure in the back. Holden looked a bit more confident toward the end of the half, so maybe things will be different. They certainly could use Corey Ashe’s speed.

  10. Kamara almost had a break away for a 1v1 with the keeper but he looked like he had his shoe laces tied. Disappointing cause that woulda been a sure goal. At least they’re getting more quality pressure now.

  11. Atlante are making Dynamo look old (Waibel), slow(Waibel) and foolish (Kamara and Mulrooney’s Yellow Cards). This is pretty tough to watch and Brian Ching’s preposterous attempt at a bicycle was cringe-worthy. I hope the MLS sides take this tourney a bit more seriously next go round.

  12. Houston finally has a good sequence followed by a corner that drops in their lap but they can’t knock it home, that was begging.

  13. Houston’s attack is non-existent. They are just tooooo slowww getting the ball forward. 2-0 Atlante, it is all over. Houston will not even score.

Prediction: USL 2/2, MLS 0/4 getting to the semifinals.

  14. For those not watching it is currently 2-0 atlante on top. Houston has a lot of possession but atl is just packing it in now.
