  1. unbelievable for Fulham and Rangers…c’mon…finish the game against lesser opponents. Shameful to drop points like that.

  2. On the plus side, I think Newcastle got beat something like 11-1 aggregate over the two games they played in the premiership last year, so 3-2 is quite an improvement.

  3. You know why I like this sub for Newcastle? Because it takes off the one player who can consistantly put a good ball into the box and strike a free kick, and brings on a guy who can win balls in the air.

    Bleh.

  5. Edu subbed off in 64′ for Lafferty….he’s listed as a striker so maybe they feel the need for some more offense?

  6. Here’s what Newcastle has on the bench as far as attacking players: Shola Ameobi, Andy Carroll, who’s been okay this year but is barely out of the youth team. Kazenga LuaLua is also an attacking player, who has made 2 premiership appearances for about 15 minutes total.

  7. After jumping out 3-0 in the 70th minute to Leverkusen… it’s now 3-2 in the 74th. Wow! (Still no Landon)

  8. Adu has got to get out of there. His whole 2008 can pretty much be summed up like this:

    * Great play at Olympic qualifiers, including two free-kick goals in clincher.

    * Outstanding performance vs. Holland in Beijing but subbed out by idiot Nowak and suspended for crucial third group match.

    * Great free kick goal for USA vs. Guatemala in WCQ.

    * Bench for Benfica after Olympic qualifiers and garbage time for Monaco in a handful of games.

This after a 2007 that saw him play great in the U-20 World Cup and score some nice goals, mostly off the bench, for Benfica.

2009 is looking bad. He seems trapped until the summer at least. Then what? Benfica still owns his rights.

  9. GOAL UNITED. Berbatov, from Park. Rooney, sliding into Center Back while Vidic got treatment for a cut, sends a long pass to Park in the area, he touches it past the Newcastle keeper and a wide-open Berbatov finishes. United 2, Newcastle 1.

  10. Listen folks, I am going to Twitter the second half of Man Utd-Newcastle. Basically a running commentary via Twitter. Even if you don’t have Twitter, you can see the updates on the top right side of SBI.

  11. A few things just based on the 1st half highlights.

-Van Der Saar absolutely should have stopped the Jonas Gutierrez shot which led to Lovenkrands’ rebound goal.

    – Martins should have scored another for Newcastle, but pushed his shot wide.

    – Vidic missed a header with a gaping net but pushed it high.

  12. Ronaldo dives in order to get Steven Taylor a yellow card for Newcastle, which is just about the last thing to happen as the half ends.

Except that Rio Ferdinand just got a yellow or something before leaving the pitch at the half.

It’s 1-1. Don’t have anything to say because I missed 95% of the half.

  13. The link I put up crapped out for me at about the same time I put it up. The only thing I can find now is a sopcast channel, which is 6029.

  14. 29th minute- Gutierrez dances around a few defenders in his own half, but his long pass to switch fields goes out of play.

Gutierrez’s best game this season was probably the 1-1 draw at Old Trafford to open the season.

  15. kinda pissed about Newcastle giving it away so early/easy, but hey – that’s Newcastle.

Manic – where are you watching it? Setanta? Or is it online somewhere?

  16. Landon didn’t even make the bench. This seems to be a really important game to Bayern. Perhaps they think this is their only chance for a championship this season.
