DeRo’s Blast a Goal of the Week favorite

Good morning folks. As we get ready to kick off the new week with a fresh assortment of posts, I wanted to get the day started with the best goal of the weekend. It came courtesy of Toronto FC's Dwayne DeRosario, who looked to have a game-winner before a late penalty helped D.C. salvage a tie.

I'm sure Mike Magee's late equalizer will get its share of votes for Goal of the Week, but DeRosario's run and blast is, for my money, the best effort of Week 8.

Enjoy:

What did you think of DeRosario's goal? Was there a better goal? Which goal gets your vote for MLS Goal of the Week?

  1. The man simply has no fear what so ever I love how he goes right into the heart of the defence and puts them on their heels.

  2. This goal was spectacular as Dero was driving into the gut of DC’s defence and blasted the shot off while going full out and was able to get a nice curve and pace on the ball to beat the goal tender. If it doesn’t look “wow” it is because of his quality he makes the difficult look easy but no one on this site and most in MLS could not make this shot on a regular basis, Dero can!

  3. Did no one see Josh Wolff’s diving header off a pinpoint cross from Jack Jewsbury in the Columbus/KC game? Jewsbury bends that sucker in from 30 out; around the defender and right on to Wolffs noggin.

  4. Robbie Findley had an amazing header vs LAG but it was on Wednesday so I think everybody forgot about it by Sat. But, yeah, no real WOW goals this weekend.

  5. Please…Did you see any of the goals i scored in the 1980 Playoffs?

And that was with a hangover.

    Please.

  6. T.R., nobody called it an amazing goal. It was a great goal. There were no WOW goals this week.

And Nagamura’s is definitely NOT better. He had all day to tee up a shot with nobody around him. Well-struck, but not a better goal than this one.

  7. I thought his first goal was pretty good as well – with a guy draped all over him, not facing the goal, he manages to get a boot to it, getting it over the on rushing gk and into the net. Nice.

  8. My favorite goal was Freddie Ljungberg’s sweet PK score after Nate Jaqua was pulled down in the box vs the Galaxy.

    Oh, wait. Nevermind.

  9. Nothing that special & certainly not worthy of goal of the week considering none of Davy Arnaud’s 3 long range bombs received the honour.
