The top teams in the East and West square off tonight as D.C. United faces Chivas USA in the marquee match-up of Week nine.

Six games are on the schedule today and each of them has interesting storylines. While the Seattle-FC Dallas looks like it has blowout written all over it, the other five matches provide their own share of intrigue. You have Houston and New York rekindling their rivalry, while Chicago and Toronto square off in a battle of top East teams.

Here is a rundown of today's MLS matches:

  • Chicago Fire at Toronto FC (4pm)

  • Houston Dynamo at New York Red Bulls (7:30pm, MSG)

  • Colorado Rapids at New England Revolution (7:30pm, Direct Kick)

  • Seattle Sounders at FC Dallas (8:30pm, Direct Kick)

  • Kansas City Wizards at Real Salt Lake (9pm, Direct Kick)

  • DC United at Chivas USA (11pm, FSC)

I will be providing a live commentary of the Dynamo-Red Bulls match, and may have a live commentary on D.C.-Chivas USA (assuming there will be people awake to follow along). 1. Harringtons cross to Wolf for the nail in the coffin was pure beuty. You will not see a better placed ball on the ground, absolutely perfect….

  2. DC looked good. Most improved MLS club by a long shot. Galindo was clearly offside and the linesman was in a direct line to see it. Ref should have over-ruled linesman, but seldom or never do on off side calls.

  3. Can I take my vote back for Real Salt Lake players I voted into the all-star game? They really blew it in front of a sold out crowd. And Wolff owned Olave all night.

  4. Agreed. Crayton seems erratic… has to be one of the worst starting goalies in the league. On another note I was excited to see Brek shea do well tonight. Hopefully he gets the nod next week.

  5. What happened to Crayton? This guy was fantastic when D.C. first got him. Talk about the wheels falling off! His judgment is killing him. First he dives prematurely at the feet of Galindo, making it far too easy for Galindo to stroll around him. Then he come running out of his goal and punches air leaving his goal wide open for a goal. It’s like watching Eddie Johnson play in goal!

  6. He’s not good enough tonight for me. Seems to be losing his cool with bringing down marsh and doing a body block on galindo.

  7. This is the main story on mlsnet.com advertising the DC-Chivas match: Clash of the titans, unstoppable force meets immovable object.

Oh MLS how I love your hyperbole.

  8. The Seattle Dallas game was one of the ugliest I’ve seen. Yes, Dallas’ lone goal was clearly offsides, but Seattle had at least 5 clear chances in the first half they whiffed on. Then in the second half it looked like they were playing in 3 inch deep mud. No running, super slow, and the only passes where worthless long balls, or way too short. Ughh, that’s one game I wish I had my 90 minutes back.

  9. Whoever linked that story about Beckham offering crossing clinics to MLS players needs to alert him of the ball played across the ground for Josh Wolff’s second goal just now. Grade A+, same as the one he had against NY. Harrington to Wolff has been on fire.

  10. If Brek Shea doesn’t start next week, FC Dallas deserves to lose every game.

The kid’s got talent and is an instant spark.
