This weekend's schedule of soccer matches on TV will provideus with a final chance to see Champions League finalists Barcelona and Manchester United in action before their date with destiny on May 27th. Barcelona will host relegation-battling Osasuna, while Manchester United looks to avoid any injuries against Hull City, which is attempting to avoid relegation.

It is also the final weekend of the German Bundesliga and Werder Bremen, which just came off a disappointing loss to Shakhtar Donetsk in the UEFA Cup final, will be looking to avenge their midweek defeat as they take on first-place VfL Wolfsburg. Wolfsburg needs to win in order to guarantee themselves the German title as Bayern Munich is only two points back.

What match or matches will you be most looking forward to? Share your thoughts on this weekend's schedule of matches on TV in the comments section below.

  1. It’s my understanding that GolTV will be showing both the Wolfsburg match as well as the Bayern-Stuttgart game at the same time. I assume they will be switching back and forth.

  2. Fulham will beat Everton anyway and secure the Europa spot… I dont want Redknapp getting Spurs in…he is a bit much to take sometimes..

  3. I understand the relegation battle is important, but the Liverpool-Tottenham game will be the first Liverpool game in like two years to not be aired on either FSC or Setanta (it won’t even be showing on a delay if schedules are to be believed).

I was really looking forward to watching Big Sami lead out the Reds one last time, as we look to take 2nd place (and I really don’t understand why Setanta is showing an utterly meaningless Arsenal-Stoke game over a game where 2nd place and a UEFA Cup spot are at stake later in the day).

  4. WTF dude! Bayern isn’t the only team 2 points back, Stuttgart is too. And, to add to the excitement, Stuttgart plays Bayern!

So basically, the first domino is Wolfsburg/Werder. If Wolfsburg wins or ties, that’s it, they win the Bundesliga. If they lose, then …

Stuttgart and Bayern are tied for 2nd and play each other, as the second domino. So whoever wins that game wins the Bundesliga. If they tie, then…

It opens up the door for Berlin. If Wolfsburg loses, Stuttgart/Bayern tie, and Berlin wins, then they win the title!

    Crazy. Go Stuttgart!

  5. At this point, I think relegation may be the best thing for Newcastle. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t care for the club one bit and wouldn’t mind seeing them go the way of Leeds — but if they are going to turn things around, they need to start again with a clean slate and build something sustainable.

  6. ebradlee10 – you can probably trace that team’s collapse to his rec league move of keeping the team out on the field at the half of their thrashing by Man City.

  7. I don’t have abything against Hull City, it’s just their manager. Perhaps only Phil Brown can get relegated, the tosser.

  8. C’Mon you Magpies!

It would be quite sweet if Newcastle and Hull *both* win and Sunderland lose and go down instead of either. Ah, a guy can dream, right?

  9. Michael Bradley scores the goal that saves Gladbach from relegation. I call it.

I just realize how Monchegladbach and Michael Bradley sound alike…..

  10. I know Hull City is in a relegation battle and ManU is the league champion but why wouldn’t FSC broadcast Fulham v Everton or Tottenham v Liverpool? Heck even Newcastle v Aston Villa would be a better option. In my opinion these are the 2-3 matches that could hold the most drama on the final weekend. ManU will be playing its B squad in order to rest up before the CL Final.

I assume Setanta has the rights to those matches but does anyone know how the rights to the matches are obtained? Thank goodness for the Internet which will allow me to watch a crappy feed on Sunday of the match I want to see.

PS – Comcast sucks for not offering Setanta in my area (Chicago!)
