It is the match La Liga fans have been waiting months for.

Real Madrid takes on Barcelona on Saturday in the weekend's marquee match-up and the game that will determine whether Real Madrid has any legitimate chance to catch Barcelona atop the Spanish First Division standings.

Barcelona's lead is four points, but with the Champion League semifinal second leg vs. Chelsea looming, head coach Pep Guardiola has some tough decisions to make with regards to his lineup and who he will rest vs. Real Madrid.

"El Clasico" is just one of several high-profile matches taking place this weekend. There are great matches from Europe to South America to North America as we head into the final month of the season for many leagues around the globe.

So what are the top matches to watch this weekend? Wondering what games you will have to choose from on TV this weekend? Find out both after the jump:

Top Ten Matches to Watch

1. Real Madrid vs. FC Barcelona– The definition of a must-see soccer match. Can Real Madrid win at home and close the gap to one point atop the La Liga standing?

2. Villarreal vs. Sevilla– These teams aren't battling for the league title, but almost as importantly, they are both fighting for Champions League places. Villarreal needs a win here to move past Sevilla into one of the four Champions League spots.

3. Chelsea vs. Fulham– Why does this match matter when Chelsea has all but conceded the league title and will likely rest players ahead of its Champions League match vs. Barcelona? Clint Dempsey's the name and he scored two goals the last time these teams met.

4. Corinthians vs. Santos– A chance to see the past of Brazilian soccer (Ronaldo) vs. the future (Neymar) in this Sao Paolo state championship playoff clash.

5. Chicago Fire vs. Seattle Sounders. The MLS Game of the Week isn't being broadcast nationally, but if you have a chance to see it, you can't miss seeing two of the best teams in MLS do battle.

6. Bayern Munich vs. Borussia Moenchengladbach. Michael Bradley's squad is in desperate need of points to avoid relegation and will face a struggling Bayern squad on the road.

7. Toronto FC vs. Columbus Crew. Suddenly streaking TFC plays host to struggling Columbus in what should be an entertaining match played in front of a sold-out BMO Field.

8. Santos Laguna vs. San Luis. U.S. national team defender Michael Orozco on one side, hated Mexican goalkeeper Oswaldo Sanchez on the other.

9. Hamburg vs. Hertha Berlin. Two teams still in the hunt for the Bundesliga title, as well as precious Champions League places, do battle. Can Hamburg re-focus after its UEFA Cup match?

10. Inter Milan vs. Lazio. Jose Mourinho's men are headed toward a league title, but Lazio's Mauro Zarate is one of the best young striker's in Italy.

  7. Why wasn’t Beşiktaş vs. Fenerbahçe anywhere?

This is a bigger match up than most of the games on the list not to mention the games mentioned being played.

Do some research before posting please Ives.

  8. I agree with madmax, Blanco has always been a cheat by buying referees but has not been caught before in his 18 years as a professional player. Finally he has been exposed!

  9. I was wondering why no ESPN game this week and just took a look at their MLS schedule. Bizarre to say the least.

  10. My eyes will be on Blanco and the referee. Will Blanco still draw cards against his opponents after the Jair affair?

I think he’ll try to get Alonso tossed early, and may succeed.

  11. All of the RSL games not on national tv can be seen on comcast 111 thanks to local channel KUTV. Yea KUTV, now I don’t have to buy Direct Kick or MSL.net to see my boys.

  12. Guys, Chicago-Seattle wasn’t on the list of nationally-televised matches. Toronto FC-Columbus was, but as it turns out, it was because it’s a national game in Canada. Seattle-Chicago is obviously the MLS game of the week, but won’t be seen by folks without Direct Kick.

  13. Columbus and Toronto!?

Ives has a case of the Fridays!

The biggest MLS match-up is obviously Seattle/Chicago.

For anyone living in the southern maryland area, I will be streaking down 301 to make it home from class in time for the Barca/Madrid match-up, so watch out. Come on Ray Hudson!!

  14. One picky note, the Corinthians match isn’t in the Brazilian League, it’s in the São Paulo State Championship. The Brazilian League is a different competition.
