U.S. national team defender Oguchi Onyewu could make his debut for AC Milan tonight when the Italian power takes on Club America (7pm, ESPN2) at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta in World Football Challenge action.

Onyewu trained fully with Milan on Tuesday, his first practice session since joining on a free transfer, and is expected to see action.

"Obviously in sports, there's no guarantees," Onyewu said on Tuesda. "I'm certainly under the impression that I'll have to play for my spot.

"I'm still trying to figure out what I need to do because we have a number of great defenders on the squad, and this is the first day that I actually got involved with the team."

Will you be watching? Think Onyewu will earn a starting role with AC Milan? Worried some Club America players might try to take him out ahead of Aug. 12? Order your Onyewu Milan jersey already?

  1. Oh yeah Christian. 21 out of 28 players is really mostly foreigners. And Ives was obviously joking. Buy math skills and a sense of humor. For someone who moans about whiners, you sure whine a lot

  2. More important than all the bickering back and forth – I’m pretty sure Ives was just giving us a topic for discussion – Gooch didn’t get the start.

Here’s hoping he gets to make his Milan debut here in America!

You can simply skip over my posts if you don’t wanna read them.

As far as your assumptions of why I post here, it’s simple, it’s a good source for soccer news.

It’s not my fault half the USMNT fan base are bunch of lunatics that believe all the conspiracy theories they themselves create.

Obviously you fall into that category if my comments bother you.

  4. I think Ives was kidding about getting him hurt before the qualifier, but Steve, Christian is not far off from his evaluation of the roster. The roster may be 3/4 Mexican due to league rules, but América notoriously plays more foreigners in the games.

Notheless, Gooch has definitely raised our national pride and I will be definitely be watching some more Serie A now.
    Forza Onyewu!
