The European season does not start for another few weeks for most clubs, but that does not mean there won't be top-quality matches to watch this weekend.
One of the most intrigung matches takes place on Sunday, when the Milan derby kicks off as part of the World Football Challenge. Another will be the Gold Cup final, where the winners of USA-Honduras and Mexico-Costa Rica will meet.
There are also MLS matches to choose from as well as games from the start of the Mexican Apertura.

Looks like a nice weekend of soccer on TV…and chasing an infant all over the place.
Well, I went to my local Mexican restaurant last night and had too many margaritas watching the game. Of course the Mexicans came to cheer on their country, but I was shocked to see Americans cheering against the USA. Its a crazy world. Anyway, I’m in recovery mode.
Rossi is Judas – unfortunately your tears of joy will turn into tears of sadness when the matches are interrupted for Sports Center updates about the most recent NASCAR results. I just hope I can restrain myself from throwing a beer at my TV.
6 hours of soccer on the ESPN networks this weekend. I never thought I’d see the day (in a non-World Cup year). I might cry out of pure happiness. 🙂
I haven’t been following the standings that closely but I just took a look to see if any of the other MLS games were interseting. Wow, talk about parity, there are only 2 points between 2nd and 8th place and when you take games played into consideration things look even closer:
1st 32 pts 18games
2nd -4 -1
3rd -4 -1
4th -5 -1
5th -5 0
6th -5 0
7th -5 0
8th -6 0
9th -12 -3
10th -12 -2
11th -12 -1
Goal differential is also remarkably even between the middle quarters of the league.
A double dose of Spurs en Español! Should be interesting.
We got ESPN over NASCAR? That’s what I call freedom on the march.
I’ll be at the sounders game and I’m going to try and catch the Crew vs TFC match.
Roberto,
Seattle vs. Chicago is on ESPN proper. On ESPN2 is NASCAR Sprint Cup practice at 3ET/ 12PT.
Seattle vs Chicago on ESPN &ESPN2 at the same time? Is that correct?can anyone confirm that?
Might be a tough game for Miami FC.. Should be a good game…
I want to see this USMNT win the Gold Cup. It would be quite an accomplishment for this group. Milan vs Milan should be good as well. I’m looking forward to the Galaxy Wizards game too. LA has been playing well and I want to see if Beckham will continue to play like he did against AC Milan or put it in neutral again. Can’t wait to find out.
ESPN.com TV soccer schedule lists US Mexico game on ESPN2! What gives?
Inigo, I’m fairly certain FSC will still have them
Err, television rights that is.
ESPN and the Wizards web page have the Wizards-Galaxy game at 8:00.
Can somebody please tell me who has the U.S.-based rights to the Europa League this year? Somebody? Anybody? Bueller?
Ives, what’s your take on the spat going on between the Front Offices of Seattle and DC over this Open Cup final bidding?
Hey, the teams in the Open Cup final seem to be taking it seriously:

There’s six more weeks of this for the soccer diehards of us in this nation to enjoy.
Sounders/Chicago should be a good match. Although it loses some luster w/Brian McBride out. Still always interesting to watch a broadcast from Qwest Field.
Are you going to post the next set of answers for the Q&A today?
I thought that GolTV was broadcasting Aston Villa v. Malaga on saturday as well?
Up Villa!
If the US makes the final it will be on FSC as well.
Not a bad weekend lineup for the summer. Stoked for the Euro seasons to begin in a few weeks.
Gold Cup Final is on Fox SC too.
The gold cup final is on univision???
