U.S. national team defender Heath Pearce may soon be plying his trade in MLS.
According to 3rdDegree.net, FC Dallas head coach Shellas Hyndman revealed that Pearce is interested in playing in MLS. FC Dallas has the top allocation spot, and Hyndman said the club may look to acquire Pearce if he signs a deal with the league.
Pearce, who is currently a free agent, last played for German Bundesliga 2 club Hansa Rostock. The left back was dropped to the club's reserves in April due to "player performance" before his contract expired in May.
What do you think of Pearce's potential move to FC Dallas? Disappointed he is not staying abroad? Believe he can return to his 2008 form?

Pearce will be a good MLS defender and a solid addition to whichever team winds up with him
After years of having no defense (which is common for all Dallas teams) they finally might have a passable backline with Pearce and Moor (who is not cut out for international play but is a capable MLS defender) and young guys like Davies, Wallace and Wagner. If they can finally find a way to combine the young defenders and some of the young attackers, they might finally have a respectable team (well at least since the Burn days)
I am dissapointed by the return but players need to play and like others mentioned if he has any chance of being on the WC roster, he needs to be playing.
Does anyone else still remember when he was our country’s “best left back”?
FCD needs the help. Pearce needs a job.
Sounds good to me.
No idea how this guy was our starting LB for a couple of years. Boggles my mind.
At this point he just needs a team.
He’s out of the MNT picture in my opinion, but if he returns to form, maybe he can get into a couple rosters. But it is time to look forward, not backward, for the answer to the MNT left fullback.
Pierce would be a great fit fc dallas him and van den berg on the left would no doubt be a troublesome combination for defenses.
I don’t think he’s good enough to fight for a spot on an MLS side…let’s look for a LB option for the USMNT elsewhere. Stop hanging on to the same guys if they can’t get the job done.
Well,…it is apparent teams are not ringing his phone off the hook seeking his services. Seems to me that he should sign right away and start playing before his WC 2010 chance evaporates.
Maybe some playing time will bring some confidence. He can’t feel too game fit at the moment.
sounds fine to me.
Who???
Ideal team for Pearce: Colorado could use him as a LB, or NY.
Dave, if I understand your first point correctly, Pearce played more minutes than anyone else in 2008 for the USMNT, so he had plenty of time and chances to keep that spot. But yes, he’s at best the third choice at left back, perhaps lower on the chart than that. Bradley should probably consider Hejduk, Spector over him at that spot and they are not even left backs by trade.
When Pearce made that sick assist to K Cooper when bradley first started coaching the MNT (they were playing Denmark or China..) I became a big pearce fan, but ever since then he’s just been a big ol ‘ weeny doody head.
For a long time I didn’t understand why Pearce didn’t get more of a shot with the USMNT. He’s got good pace, a decent motor, and (I thought) is a passable defender. And we’ve obviously long had a need for a left back.
His play at the Gold Cup was so attrocious, any lingering thought of him as the left back for the nats has been completely obliterated for me. We have many better options, including Bornstein, who I’ve never really liked. I don’t think Pearce should really even be in the picture. He’s a known commodity that is not even close to up to the task for international play. Frankly, I’d rather see Beasley back there, and that’s saying a lot. We need to give Castillo and Orozco a look now.
So for Pearce I think a move to Dallas would be good, but I hold no hope for a “return to form.” He’s just not good enough to compete at the international level, we need to look elsewhere.
Anywhere you can, just play.
Well, he couldn’t make it in Bundesliga-2, so I doubt his impact in MLS will be anything spectacular, but hopefully he can get back in form and get back to Europe.
MLS needs to scrap the archaic practice of allocation order…. let players have a say in what team they go to – who wants to be stuck in Dallas w/ JR Ewing????
He needs a job
He was never all that and a bag of chips. A flawed player for a flawed MLS side — a good match.
i think the move will be good for him
coming back to the mls worked for donovan.
Well, if it gets him on the pitch it has to be considered a good move.
As long as he returns to form…
