  1. Apparently Bradley argued with his coach for his plans to bench him for today’s game due to last week’s poor performance. So the coach told him to watch in the stands. Sucks, but Bradley is 1 of their better players so it’s not a horrible situation. Just where he needs to learn respect and cool his anger.

  2. So Baby Bradley did not even make the bench for BMG. Also, He got pulled 45 mins into the last match. I did some digging and it is not an injury that I can see on the net. If that continues will Bob stop calling him? If Jones can regain his form and play for Schalke we have a ready made replacement. Right?

  3. Did serie A scrap the 9 am Sunday game? That fit in nicely with the 11 am EPL game. Now Villa-Fulham is pushed to 8 pm because they have the 12 pm and 2:45 pm serie A geames.

  4. I can’t believe there are so many games available to watch!!! It makes me wish I could hole up in front of the TV all weekend but since that is not possible the MUST SEE games for me are Man U vs Arsenal and AC Milan vs Inter Milan.

  5. Not really any reason USMNT is on ESPN Classic on Wed Sep 9, maybe they wanted to keep it consistent between the two games.

The US was never going to be on ESPN2 of Sep 5, that is opening day for college football. The EPL time slot is early enough to be on before college football.

  6. Quit complaining.

10 years ago the only futball I could watch was the Mexican league on Galavision.

I just wish I were single and could sit in my boxers and take in the Bacchanalian soccer orgy that now resides on my TV on the weekends.

  7. I’ll watch a bit of Barca v. Shaktar game (it is so good to be self-employed). Tomorrow, I’d watch bits of Man U vs Arsenal, the Milan Derby, Fulham v Aston Villa, and the LA derby or the DC United v Chicago game. I’ll probably also follow the Quakes game on the gamecast.

  8. LLWS is happy they’ve been pulling a record 0.9 this year. That’s ALMOST the 1.0 the US-Honduras game drew BEFORE this summer brought in more US fans… plus now these games are more important since we messed up in Mexico. Also, USMNT does much better in the crucial 18-30 year old male category which is where ALL espn advertisers try to pitch products too.

  9. As much as it hurts to see LLWS on ESPN HD and the USMNT on Classic its hard to argue with the ratings. We have to continue to bide our time.

As a reminder of how much things have changed, 20 years ago there was almost zero soccer on TV. Now they even showed the Champions League draw (although cut up a bit). This is truly incredible.

Lastly it’s great for us to know that ESPN is getting great ratings for its EPL on Sat and I’m sure the same will be true for LaLiga on sunday as soon as they start it.

Overall, fantastic for soccer in the USA.

  10. ESPN CLASSIC

Isn’t that equivalent to Third World Status in the “Media World”?

Seems like hidden agendas are at play <—Brett Musberger vs. Alexi Lalas. I get your ratings. My bad Dick.

  11. Does anyone else think it’s odd/creepy that we’re getting little league in HD? I mean, are we really wanting to see the texture on those pimples? Oh, I see, it is a whitehead and not a blackhead… good job spotting that Cal.

Seriously… the LLWS is a big story if your local team made it. If not, who cares. The only time anyone cares is when some player is revealed to be 18 years old.

Let our national team be on the big stage—like ABC (heaven knows their ratings are crap lately).

  12. When you see that list of games, it’s pretty amazing how much soccer is available on TV these days. As much as many bitch about the coverage that soccer receives from many news outlets, you certainly can’t find issue with how many games are available.

All we have to complain about now is when will they all be offered in HD…

    Lets go Arsenal!

  13. Again, ratings. Does anybody watch the “United States Youth National Final for Boys Under the age of 13”?

    People watch the LLWS.

  14. Steve’s response:
“Ratings!!! LLWS does huge ratings and is one of the truly big sports events of the summer”

if that’s the case, then why are ABC and ESPN not airing the United States Youth National Final for Boys Under the age of 13?

Ratings sounds good though! Hell (the manipulative business savvy hierarchy) , they get more people to attend a 13 year old semifinal (20,000) than say your regular mls game.

  15. I will miss every single game for the next 7 days as I will be on vacation. Slightly bitter, as soccer flows through my blood.

Am I upset I won’t be at RFK for the US Open Cup final Wednesday? Yes. Am I upset I’ll be drinking brewskies on the beach all week? No chance.

  16. JFC – why should there be a suspension for something that if the ref had made the correct call, there would have only been a yellow card?

  17. Can someone explain (that’s make sense) to me why the USMNT’s game is airing on ESPN CLASSIC/Galavision, yet the LLWS (U13 Baseball) gets ESPNHD and ABCHD quality treatment? Has there been some sort of magnetic reversal?

  18. hey have there been any updates on the eduardo diving during the celtic match? i no fifa was reviewing the penalty but i saw the video it should take no time for them to rule a suspention and will he be suspended from all competition or just Champs league play?
