There were several clutch performances in MLS this week, making the race for Player of the Week honors a tight one.
You have Kheli Dube's hat-trick as well as two-goal efforts from Juan Pablo Angel and Sacha Kljestan. You also have late game-winning goals from Chris Wondolowski and Dasan Robinson.
So here's the question. Who gets your vote for MLS player of the week?
Who got your vote? Think Dube is the clear winner, or did Angel's brace and late game-winner give him the edge?
Share your thoughts below.
Luckyleftside, Russell was moved over into a position that he does not normally play his first game back from an injury. Give him a break.
how is ives the red bull supporter when he’s asking the readers who they think the player of the week is? i swear people just love trying to peg ives as a NY homer.
i think Angel basically running the show in NJ and being the captain we know he is especially after the coaching change and being equalized on twice gives him the edge. but seriously all credit to Dube, that was nice.
Wow, this is a pro-NY crowd. How do you not go with Dube?
dude ives. you are too big of a redbull supporter. dube deserves player of the week way over juan pablo. He has had the worst season and should not be given credit for what he is way over paid to do. Way to convey all the dumb viewers on here to choose angel on the vote. I cant believe you claim u just like to watch good soccer and dont have a ‘favorite team.’ It’s obvious its the redbulls. You should just admit to it, even tho it’s embarrasing.

You do realize the award is called player of the WEEK, not YEAR, right? He may not have done well this YEAR but this WEEK his two goals prevented his team from losing. I don’t care who you play for but that’s enough to get consideration for player of the week in ANY country.
Neither of his goals were Goal of the week, but I’m REALLY glad to see Sacha starting to get back among the goals. As soon as he got the goal, he looked his confident and creative self. Go get ’em Sacha, show the peeps why you’re reppin’ the USA on the FIFA 2010 cover.

Is this policy of ending threadjacking a new one? I haven’t noticed it before. Can we expect SOME sort of statement from you about WSD or are you going to lay this one out?
When you play for the worst team in the league and you score on the second worst team in the league, bragging rights should be kept at a minimum.
I think anyone who votes for Dube did not watch the game. The only reason he scored was because Robbie Russell is TERRIBLE. Angel’s goals took more talent and he had to make something from nothing. At least one of Dube’s was just a garbage goal, I would argue for more than that.
I like the post above which refered to your quietness over the WSD matter. I wonder if you’ll censor it again?
(SBI-Call it what you want, I call it removing comments that have ZERO to do with the post in question. Threadjacking isn’t something I condone and when I see it I deal with it.)
Sorry, but I disagree with an opinion you have, so I’m going to contact all your sponsors in an attempt to ruin your financial livelihood. You have to realize this is America and there is a price to be paid for saying anything anyone might disagree with.
I think Dasan Robinson should get the “Dunce of the Week” award for pulling off his shirt after his goal and getting a second yellow/red for it. And yes, some of my opinion is influnced by the fact that I had his coach on my fantasy team, and that stunt cost me 10 points. 😉
I vote Blanco because he spear headed the Fire team to Win a much need win against Colorado! I think that game has stopped the bleeding since the galaxy game.
A Poll with a Red Bulls player who helped his team win their first game in 13 tries, polled on a site with Red Bulls fans as the majority, not surprised he has over half the votes. That said, I voted for Dube, since he scored a hat trick. How often does that happen every week? Not often.
Too bad Kljestan did something good. Bradley will probably start him in the Nats’ next 3 games now.
It takes JPA to get RBNY into the win column. Gotta be him.
It has to be Kheli Dube, he just had his way with real’s defense last night. RSL just can’t seem to get a result away from home.
