Soccer Saturday: Your Running Commentary

This Saturday's soccer action doesn't feature as many marquee tilts as previous weeks, but today will give American soccer fans a chance to see every top team in Europe play, as well as some of the best young talent in the world.

Barcelona, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Chelsea and Inter all do battle today, while we will also be treated to the Under-20 World Cup, where the United States will begin play. The MLS playoff races also heats up today with top matches such as LA-Columbus and New England-Seattle.

Today's match of the day? Try Hamburg-Bayern Munich, with the winner marking itself as the early favorite to win the Bundesliga (Bayer Leverkusen's early success notwithstanding).

If you will be watching today's action please feel free to share your thoughts, opinions and some play-by-play in the comments section below. We will be doing a separate running commentary for the USA-Germany Under-20 World Cup match so stay tuned for that.

Enjoy the action (Today's TV schedule is after the jump):

  2. Yucky day for the Yanks. Again.

Jesus — how long will it take for another US international to get regular time and make a real contribution with a world power? Tim Howard at United, how long ago and far away that seems.

  3. So is Jozy Altidore the answer to the loss of Brian McBride or is it Conor Casey or Brian Ching or Kenny Cooper?

Come on Jozy. He should be getting his 1st goal before the end of October.
