  1. Mexico 1-0 over Ticos at half. Dos at 43 minutes. It’s a brutal game. incredible no one has been red carded. This region is bad for football.

  2. @hernangeles

Churrascaria Plataforma in Tribeca is showing the game for the price of dinner. It’s going to be mostly Brazilians there though.

  4. Czech Republic are also in big big trouble – they are in FIFTH in their group, after today’s tie against Slovakia. (And they needed an 84th minute goal by Milan Baros just to get that tie.)

It will be surprising if neither the Czech Republic nor Portugal make it – those are two top-20 teams (and recently top 10).

  5. 5-0 Spain continues to roll. All four of Belgums defenders were within 5 meters of the center circle when Spain flanked them with a pass to Fibregas and a cross to Villa.

It’s looking like the proverbial Harlem globtrotters vs Washington Generals.

  6. Portugal is in big, big trouble. Look at that table – they are in 4th, with only 3 games to go. They have to climb over 2 teams just to get to the playoff. Here are the games left:

Denmark (17 pts): at Albania, Sweden, Hungary

Hungary (13 pts): Portugal, at Portugal, at Denmark

Sweden (12 pts): at Malta, at Denmark, Albania

Portugal (10 pts): at Hungary, Hungary, Malta

As far as I can tell (assuming everybody wins the games against Malta and Albania), Portugal need to take all 6 points from the home-and-home with Hungary and hope Sweden lose at Denmark.

  7. Yes. Now Sweden is 1 point behind Hungary, if they win their next 2 games they will qualify. If Denmark wins its next game it qualifies. If Portugal loses it will be no World Cup for Ronaldo and the bunch.

  8. Zlatan Ibrahimovic scores on the very last second of stoppage time. Sweden wins 2-1. It was a jawdropping pass from Olof Mellberg. If you’ve ever wondered what the Swedish translation of wow is. Its WOW!
