Europa League: Your Running Commentary

Europaleage
It's Thursday, which means yet another round of Europa League Group matches this afternoon. Both Everton and Fulham have important games this afternoon, both of which are available to those who have GolTV.

First up, Tim Howard and Everton taking on Benfica (1pm) in Portugal. It's a clash the top two clubs in Group I, and if Everton grabs all three points they will be in a commanding position to advance out of their group. Everton's form in the tournament to this point has been solid, with two wins in two games, while outscoring their opponents 6-1.

Clint Dempsey and Fulham have a huge matchup of their own, as they host AS Roma (3pm). Fulham, like Everton, sit at the top of their Group, but with a small margin for error, as both FC Basel and Roma sit a point back of the London club. Winning today's match at Craven Cottage would surely improve their chances of making the next round.

  3. Um, yeah, awful defending. And passing in the final third has been lacking. That’s what happened. Geez.
And put it down, (not that it’s a big revelation) Angel Di Maria will be playing for a top 5 team in the world next year.

  4. Well, as much as a dislike to see Howard in between those sticks right now. I am a Benfica fan since birth and so is my family, and this result is awesome!!!!

DiMaria is a beast and so is Saviola

  5. Fulham only had one fit keeper on the Europa roster last match and Uefa didn’t let them add a keeper, so I doubt Eddie can be added. Funny thing, Zoltan Gera was their backup keeper that day.

  6. COYW!

Fast Eddie is not on the Europa roster for Fulham due to the home-grown players requirement. I’m not sure if he can be added due to injuries though (A. Johnson, D. Murphy, etc.), and I haven’t heard that he was added.
