Midweek College Soccer Wrap: Akron wins 16th straight, UNC crushes Stetson 7-0

Easy schedule or not, there's no stopping the Akron Zips. While their conference schedule in Mid-American play is regarded as fairly light, Wednesday's match against Penn State was a chance at answering those critics, as the Nittany Lions came in ranked 16th in this week's RPI. They too proved to be no match for the vaunted Zips.

Sophomore forward Teal Bunbury continued to light up the scoresheet, grabbing a brace in Akron's 3-0 win. His two goals give him 14 on the year, just one behind UMBC's Andrew Bulls for the nation's lead. Goalkeeper David Meves also had to come up huge to keep the cleansheet.

Another top 5 team in action was North Carolina, hosting their final regular season home game. It was a much less heralded opponent visiting, as Stetson University (RPI 156) is hardly the quality they are used to. That much was clear as the Tar Heels put seven past the Hatters behind an Alex Dixon hat trick to win 7-0.

Elsewhere around the country, No. 5 Louisville defeated Cincinnati 3-0, No. 4 UCSB handled Cal State Northridge 2-0, while American continues to knock on the door of the top 25 with a 3-1 win against local opponents Georgetown.

What do you think of this week's results? Surprised to see UNC score many goals? Will Teal Bunbury make the jump overseas or to MLS?
