  1. ManU fans, any reason Berba wasn’t in the 18 for this game? Surely he’s one of United’s best 18 players, right? From what I’ve read, it seemed United could have used someone creative up top with Rooney today.

  2. 25 mins into watching West Ham v Everton I’m convinced Spector could fill in at LB. Unless Castillo proves otherwise put Cherendolo on the right Spector on the left. Get our best defenders in the field. Anakin is way better than bornstein at LB

  3. If I recall correctly, Danny Murphy is the designated penalty taker. Since he’s hurt I guess the players are just figuring it out on their own.

  4. Nice performance today by Chelsea. Certainly deserved the win. It’s been a long time since Chelsea have been this healthy – only Bosingwa is injured. At this point they are simply a better side than ManU.

  5. What is a crime is that Fletcher is allowed to scream at the official on EVERY call and not get a card for dissent. It’s bad enough that he plays like an extra on the Braveheart set but that much dissent tends to earn a card for anyone not a team captain or not on ManU.

  6. yes, but he also took a free kick moments later (a “wickedly-struck” one at that). I’ve never thought that ball striking was one of the best part of Deuce’s game, but perhaps he’s made strides in that area.

  7. LOL yeah I saw that! Brit fans are so strange 🙂

Also there was a 9 yr old girl wearing pig tails in the front row behind a Manchester corner kick And she was making an ‘up your bum’ middle finger gesture at Giggs while he was prepping his cross.

  8. I think Fulham has a new policy when it comes to PK’s

Last week i think it was Kamara got taken down in the box and he was allowed to take the spot kick. This week dempsey wins the kick and is given the ball. I bet as long as your not terrible at Pk’s you are rewarded for your efforts by the Fulham manager.

  9. Deuce taking free kicks and penalties now for the Cottagers, huh? Impressive stuff from our new forward (perhaps).

    – From soccernet recap:

“Two chances to clear the ball were passed up and, when Dempsey shaped to shoot, Titus Bramble – who was otherwise excellent – dived in from behind to concede the spot-kick.

Dempsey took the penalty himself, rifling to Kirkland’s left with a minimum of fuss for the American’s third league goal of the season.”

“Dempsey’s wickedly-struck free-kick was pushed aside by Kirkland”

  10. important to also notice that V of H scored against a ten men side, Jozy was taken off a few minutes before the sending off, so V of H’s impact is slightly skewed in light of that

  11. Did anyone else catch the guy brushing his teeth whenever Chelsea was making a sub? He was in the first row, and just holding a toothbrush, then put it in his mouth, brushed his teeth for 10 seconds, then just left it in his mouth like a straw or toothpick or piece of hay. Totally bizarre.

  12. From Richard Jolly (soccernet)

“HULL VERDICT: Although Vennegoor of Hesselink delivered the points, Brown’s decision to replace the Dutchman with Jozy Altidore in the starting 11 was justified. The American added pace to the attack. Bullard benefited the midfield, but the choice of the unpredictable Bernard Mendy at right-back threatened to backfire whenever the influential Etherington got the ball.”

  13. From soccernet’s commentary, it sounds like Jozy was very, very dangerous all match, consistently creating space and opportunities for himself and others. Yes, it looks bad that his replacement immediately scored while Jozy had a slew of shots going wide of the mark, but hopefully Big Phil will realize that the cure for Jozy’s errant marksmanship is likely more time on the pitch.

  14. I didn’t see a second of the Hull match, but Eurosport’s recap wasn’t too high on Jozy: “Jozy Altidore does not look like a player capable of firing Hull out of trouble and his shooting boots were sadly awry after he has worked space for himself on the edge of the box.”

At least he got the start?

  15. Jozy’s replacement (VofH) scored almost immediately after coming on. Didn’t watch the game, but apparently Jozy took a lot of shots. Not sure how many were on target, though…Hopefully he made an impression and will stay on the starting line-up.

  17. SAF complains to fourth official that play wasn’t stopped for injured Terry when he was behind the ball then was stopped when United countered and prone Terry was in front of ball.

Yikes! SAF if he really can’t see the difference he should retire.

  18. Jozy’s tweet:

“Man this league hurts I got cleat marks everywhere lol feels so good to win! Thanks for the support once again!”

an all-win season. It’s on one of the Fox channels I believe. Two
players are likely to set school records in the match also.
