Liverpool is done! =D
And Voronin was a top striker in germany last year. Maybe it’s more about how Rafa uses people then how their skill level
Liverpool needs to beat Debreceni and hope that Fiorentina does not beat Lyon because if they do Liverpool is out.
If Fiorentina doesn’t win and Liverpool wins then it comes to down to the Liverpool/Fiorentina game
If Fiorentina lose to Lyon then Liverpool needs to win.
If Fiorentina draw against Lyon then Liverpool has to beat Fiorentina by 3 to advance or 2-0 to send the game to extra time.
how do they advance? i know it’s matematically possible. but all Lyon and Fiorentina need to do is play for a draw in their match and the fat lady sings.
I was right with you. A beautiful goal from someone we’ve been needing to step up for a while.
Right at the beginning of the 90th minute I thought to myself, gee, there shouldn’t even be too much stoppage time…maybe only two minutes or so. And then THAT happened. Life is cruel.
Maybe Benitez is interested in coaching an MLS side? Seriously, given their troubles in domestic competition, does he hold on if Liverpool doesn’t advance out of the group?
Yes. Lyon!!! Now Rafa can sit back , sip on a Carlsberg and strategize over how he’ll handle the knockout stages of the Europa League.
And I will gladly eat my words now as Babel scores.
BABEL!!!!!!!!!!BABEL!!!!!!!!!BABEL!!!!!!!!
YNWA–Reds still alive. Come on boys 8 more minutes!!!!
Babel looked pretty damn god there, G-Loff. glad for him.
AND IT’S BABEL. CRACKING BLAST
Man that overhead kick having no power and the lack of finishing in the box tells me that a goal for Liverpool is probably not in the cards. This is unlucky/bad finishing.
Is Carragher playing on the flank rather than CB? He has made runs down the touchline, which I can’t even remember him doing before.
i’ll take your word for it, because i haven’t seen him play much since he left the Dutch League, where he excelled. i hope he can arrange a January transfer to Ajax so that he gets his game on track.
Benitez needs to partner Babel with Torres up top. Only reason Bable looks awful is because he is played out of position on the wing. Play him as an out and out striker and you will see class act.
William,
Babel has been quite awful for Liverpool. He is one of the fastest people on the pitch, yet routinely has people waltz past him to get the ball. If he does manage to get the ball, every move is straight to the byline, and all of the defenders know it. I am a Liverpool supporter, and think he has been a huge bust.
That said, Voronin is garbage as well…
Not CL, but West Ham and Aston Villa are playing. Spector did not start, but is subbed in at the 8 min mark for Ilunga, I assume due to injury, so it looks like he’ll get another good EPL runout. Friedel between the pipes on the other end, with Guzan on the bench.
Ryan Babel is truly talented, and his lack of playing time is just another reason that Rafa should be shown the door. (not that i want Cesspool, er Liverpool to succeed, mind you. I want the Dutch team to be as deep as possible for the World Cup.)
Voronin is awful…Babel not getting the start over this clown is a sign of something.
DK one up on Inter!! Since Sheva scored, if that were to end up winning the game, he’d finally get the last laugh on the Special One:)
My two favorite teams: Manchester United and whoever is playing Liverpool. Go Lyon!
Barcelona-Rubin Kazan was on FSC live at 11:30a. The gametime temp was 10F. I won’t mention the result for those waiting to watch the tape delay.
the last italian to terrorize an american youth side in a major tournament (Graziano Pelle, absolutely unstoppable against the US in the 2005 u-20 WC) is starting up top for Alkmaar. Let’s see how much more he’s developed than the US forwards from that tournament (Chad Barrett, Sammy Ochoa, Jacob Peterson, etc.)
If Liverpool loses today, Raffa is in trouble. Then I will step in as coach. Gerrard & Torres are both going to be out for awhile, I see. That suits me just fine as I wasn’t planning on using any attackers anyway. I am going to play a 5-5-0 formation. We need more scoreless ties, I think.
