Today is the day after the World Cup draw, meaning there's still that lingering hangover from finding out which teams will be facing each other next summer. The World Cup is still six months away, but there are plenty of matches today to satisfy that hunger soccer fans are sure to wake up with today.

The match of the day will take place in Turin, where Juventus will play host to Inter Milan in a battle of Serie A powers. Juve has fallen behind AC Milan into third place in the Italian standings and must win today to cut down the eight-point lead Inter has.

The EPL will feature a handful of quality battles, including Chelsea's visit to Manchester City and Jozy Altidore's first meeting vs. Brad Friedel when Hull takes on Aston Villa.

  1. Im not concerned with Jozy,as Spectra said he is making a lot of progress and he still has 6 more months to sharpen his skills against top notch competition.

And yes, the idea of Cunningham, Casey or Ching gives me nightmares every night!

  2. A lot of the “hate” has to do with reckless challenges, red cards, and a stupidly short temper.

He is so important to the team, but he needs to get his head on straight and not pretend to be a Roy Keane-type enforcer.

  3. The point is that it doesn’t inspire much confidence that we’re relying on such a raw talent to go 90 minutes and score important goals for us in SA. And the thought of pairing him up front with Casey, Cunningham, or Ching doesn’t keep you up at night? For all the relief about the draw, we have a LOT of issues to work out.

  4. people also hate on bradley because they lack the knowledge to understand the position he truly plays….. box to box means they are to be involved in all aspects of the midfield

  5. agreed, Bradley is a beast, he gets way to much criticism from US fans just b/c he’s the coach’s kid, i think 2018/2022 if we get the cup at home will be our real coming out party though

  6. Bradley is the man…. he has been starting and producing in europe for about four seasons now…. and he is only 22

next year we are going to be good but 2014 we are gonna be legit contenders

  7. Not to completely jinx him today, but throughout his time in the prem, Spector has always done very well against those who most consider “the top guys”… rooney, ronaldo, torres, RvP..
I remember after the big west ham win against united (last year?) there were quotes from rooney and ronaldo on how they had to keep switching because neither wanted to be on his side.
now i will take responsibility for his implosion in today’s 2nd hald.

  8. Yea, I can’t find any Hull feed that isn’t anything but sound…and it must not be an overly exciting game..they’re barely talking about it.

  9. Beasley drew two key fouls, one just outside the box that nearly led to a goal and the other a PK, he also had a good shot blocked by the keeper, sounds like he had a great game

  10. Spector in the starting XI at home against United.

Gary Neville in the middle at the back!!! Must be there because of his height advantage.

  11. I might be the only person in the US watching Portsmouth/Burnley. There is something nostalgic about watching soccer on television in an old stadium where the camera is right on top of the field. Fratton Park isn’t full, but it’s been buzzing the entire 58 minutes and the match has been wide open.

  12. Why do British announcers keep calling Jozy “Joe-ZAY All-ti-DORE-ay.” These people are just incapable of pronouncing athletes’ names correctly.

  13. I think he will be playing before June, but I’m worried about his form and long term health if he goes to South Africa. It will be a miracle if he is on the pitch against England, but I have faith he will at least travel to the World Cup for at least the later games.

  14. If anyone missed it, please check out Charlie Davies’ interview with Jeremy Schaap at espn.com. Great interview, he’s very positive and thinks he will be better than he was before the injury–at the cup!

Lots of positive news in the past few days for the nats!
