There are a number of Americans in action overseas on Wednesday, but none have the charge that Brad Friedel does: Stop Arsenal.

The Gunners have scored at least two goals in six consecutive Premier League games, including a 3-0 drubbing of Villa Dec. 27., and they're unbeaten in their last nine EPL matches (seven wins, two draws).

With a win, the Villains could get right back in the hunt for a Top-4 spot. They currently have 36 points through 21 games. Tottenham, in fourth, have 41 points through 23 matches.

Americans Abroad Wednesday:

  • Brad Friedel and Brad Guzan – Aston Villa vs. Arsenal, 2:45 p.m. EST
  • Landon Donovan and Tim Howard – Everton vs. Sunderland, 3 p.m

  • Maurice Edu and DaMarcus Beasley – Rangers at St. Mirren, 2:45 p.m.

  1. I’d say they are pretty much right. Jozy doesn’t have the class at this moment to play in a league as big as the one he’s in.

  2. You obviously haven’t watched the last two games where Neville bypassed Donovan throughout the game by crossing or dumping over his head to nobody in particular….

  3. First of all, Everton is actually a real team without Landon. Second, Landon is the all-time leading goal scorer for the United States, while Jozy is just a kid getting his first real taste of soccer.

To write Jozy off because he’s yet to score a goal in his first handful of games as a kid playing in arguably the best league in the world is pushing it just a bit.

    # 31:28 Unfair challenge on Tim Cahill by George McCartney results in a free kick. Phil Neville takes the free kick.
    # 30:47 Phil Neville produces a cross, clearance by Lorik Cana.
    # 29:12 Phil Neville sends in a cross, Nyron Nosworthy makes a clearance.

  9. From Yahoo:

Two nil! Landon Donavan gets the goal! Lovely goal from Everton. Baines plays a big diagonal to Cahill who nods the ball into the on rushing Donavan. The American controls it on his chest and finishes neatly first time. His first goal for the club!

  10. From BBC Live Text: Everton goal: Those poor Black Cats. Tim Cahill gets up highest again to win a header and flick it on to Landon Donovan, who keeps his cool to lash left-footed past Craig Gordon.
