There are a number of Americans in action overseas on Wednesday, but none have the charge that Brad Friedel does: Stop Arsenal.
The Gunners have scored at least two goals in six consecutive Premier League games, including a 3-0 drubbing of Villa Dec. 27., and they're unbeaten in their last nine EPL matches (seven wins, two draws).
With a win, the Villains could get right back in the hunt for a Top-4 spot. They currently have 36 points through 21 games. Tottenham, in fourth, have 41 points through 23 matches.
Americans Abroad Wednesday:
- Brad Friedel and Brad Guzan – Aston Villa vs. Arsenal, 2:45 p.m. EST
- Landon Donovan and Tim Howard – Everton vs. Sunderland, 3 p.m
- Frank Simek – Sheffield Wednesday at Scunthorpe, 2:45 p.m.
- Maurice Edu and DaMarcus Beasley – Rangers at St. Mirren, 2:45 p.m.
- Dominic Cervi – Celtic vs. Hibernian, 2:45 p.m.
Americans Abroad Tuesday:
- Marcus Hahnemann – 90 minutes in goal, one save in 0-0 draw for Wolverhampton vs. Liverpool
- Jonathan Spector – 90 minutes at left back in 1-1 draw for West Ham at Portsmouth
- Jemal Johnson – 79 minutes at midfield for Stockport County in 1-1 draw vs. Brighton
- Zak Whitbread – Didn't play, in 18 for Norwich in 2-1 loss at Walsall
- Mike Grella – Didn't play, in 18 for Leeds 3-0 loss to Swindon Town
- Ian Joyce – Not in 18 for Southend in 2-0 loss to Millwall
Ahhh. Love it. Great post man.
worked out for man u
ManUtd fans pelt Bellamy with bottle and other assorted debris. Typical?
Craig Bellamy just got nailed by something in the head taking a corner. Bottles and s*** flying everywhere. Classy Man United fans, huh?
irraqgoals stream just stopped.
I’d say they are pretty much right. Jozy doesn’t have the class at this moment to play in a league as big as the one he’s in.
i don’t think he was writing him off
I made that prediction yesterday, on Goff’s blog
You obviously haven’t watched the last two games where Neville bypassed Donovan throughout the game by crossing or dumping over his head to nobody in particular….
He’s not “alongside Louis [sic] Saha” in a 442, he’s on the right side in a 451.
Tuition $ well spent…
First of all, Everton is actually a real team without Landon. Second, Landon is the all-time leading goal scorer for the United States, while Jozy is just a kid getting his first real taste of soccer.
To write Jozy off because he’s yet to score a goal in his first handful of games as a kid playing in arguably the best league in the world is pushing it just a bit.
ustream too
great for landon!
Next inevitable stop: 2010 WC Starter
iraqgoals changed it’s feed for the Everton match, the last 15min of the 1st half came in great. They are about to show 1st half highlights… check it out.
Please help out with a feed…sitting in class and I can’t find the game…anywhere other than atdhe?
The Everton stream is no longer working. What happened?
whats your point?
Phew! We can all admit Landon’s good now that he’s scored for a Premier League team…
/sarcasm.
Chelsea means diving F***in’ cheats in 36 languages
Cahill headed down at the top of the box, Landon chested it into the area, hit it left-footed into the bottom left of the goal. Simple stuff. Looked nice.
jemal johnson getting minutes every game now and will soon be a natural starter.
hahaha touche
Friedel pitching a shutout v Arsenal at half. ‘MERICA!!
The boy has skills. Stay in Europe if you can.
Good call JSmiley! You made the same comment in another thread much earlier in the day, so I had to find you and give you props…..and ask for today’s winning lottery numbers.
Close.

Manchester f*¢k!n’ United
From BBC – our old friend Neville the worthless… What do you want to imagine happens with the cross…
# 31:28 Unfair challenge on Tim Cahill by George McCartney results in a free kick. Phil Neville takes the free kick.
# 30:47 Phil Neville produces a cross, clearance by Lorik Cana.
# 29:12 Phil Neville sends in a cross, Nyron Nosworthy makes a clearance.
i know right. i love JA, but the proof is in the pudding.
Classic
Dear friends, did anyone actually see the goal? If so, give your greatest poetic description please.
everton links aren’t lasting long at all. man u / city game is pretty great though. on veetle.
Probably on FSC.
and yes, landy played it quite cool and collected off his chest right down to his left foot and put it in first touch w/ his left foot. Great goal.
and now Landy had more EPL goals than Jozy…
Is that what you saw?
I saw him one on one with the keeper in the box and he went low to the keepers right.
Nostradamus would be proud… Way to go Landon
“he’s fit right in at everton, hasn’t he? Looks like an everton player, plays like an everton player, has that work ethic of an everton player”

From Yahoo:
Two nil! Landon Donavan gets the goal! Lovely goal from Everton. Baines plays a big diagonal to Cahill who nods the ball into the on rushing Donavan. The American controls it on his chest and finishes neatly first time. His first goal for the club!
landy cakes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and the english national team gets a little bit more scared for this summer.
“Arse”nal, S”cunt”horp United and Chelsea.
Ha
sigh…link unreliable so far. anyone know if this will be replayed later on fsc or espn?
Ha I love it! on another note… wow have the Black Cats looked terrible the past few weeks.
From BBC Live Text: Everton goal: Those poor Black Cats. Tim Cahill gets up highest again to win a header and flick it on to Landon Donovan, who keeps his cool to lash left-footed past Craig Gordon.
LD Nice job
yea…I believe “Goal. Donovan. Left Foot Shot to Left Corner” is a little bland for me. Thanks though..
Anybody know where I can find this streaming?
Landycakes goaaaaaaal
Damnit!!! Had the link, it went out, it came back again and it was already 2-0!!!
