With the winter transfer period in full swing, we are starting to see plenty of movement involving MLS players as well as Americans making moves to and around Europe.

Here are a few updates on MLS and Americans Abroad player moves:

Chicago Fire defender Gonzalo Segares has long been counted as a player on the move from MLS, now a destination has been identified. SBI alumnus and Chicago Tribune writer Sam Stejskal is reporting that Segares is set for a move to Cypriot club Apollon FC.

American defender Zak Whitbread has been sidelined all season due to a hip injury that kept him from leaving Millwall. Now he looks set to finally leave, with a move to Norwich City being reported.

Former D.C. United and Columbus Crew defender/midfielder Ryan Miller has secured a contract with Swedish club Halmstads BK, Miller's agent told SBI. That's the same club where Freddie Ljungberg began his playing career and where Fulham manager Roy Hodgson began his coaching career.

The New York Red Bulls' reconstruction project has officially begun, with the club signing Costa Rican defender Roy Miller. Capable of playing any position in a defensive back four, Miller is the first signing by new Red Bulls general manager Erik Soler.
