There are plenty of big matches in leagues from Mexico to Germany, but many American soccer fans will be focused on the U.S. team's first match of the new year.

Tonight's USA-Honduras friendly in Carson, California is the marquee match of the day, though there are other high-profile encounters. Werder Bremen take on Bayern Munich in one key battle, while Tottenham tries to halt Leeds United's Cinderella run in the FA Cup.

  1. You’re forgetting that Leon Osman is also fit now. And that’s a player Moyes loves. So even if Billy gets out of the starting eleven, with Arteta back (Moyes said he’s still a month away) I don’t see Osman sitting. LD would prob be sitting, cuz I doubt Moyes would sit Pienaar or Fellaini, and he seems to have a hard on for Saha and Cahill is like a legend to Everton fans.

  2. Did you just start watching Everton this year? Arteta is a beast. If he was playing for a team that was in Champs league regularly, more people would know more about him. Underrated if anything.

  3. Donovan was Everton’s best player today. He played extremely well when he got the ball; the problem was that his teammates made sure that that didn’t happen to often.
