This midweek’s Soccer on TV

If you looked at the midweek's Soccer on TV schedule, you might think you were looking at a weekend lineup.

There are several marquee matches to watch on Tuesday and Wednesday, and among them is the battle between Arsenal and Liverpool. Each team's chance of sporting the Premiership crown is rapidly fading, and one of the rivals may get dealt a serious blow when they square off at the Emirates on Wednesday.

Manchester United is also trying to stay in the hunt for the Premiership title, and will look to keep within striking distance of first-place Chelsea when they take on the impressive Brad Friedel and Aston Villa. Friedel is enjoying a string of solid showings, but has a hard task at hand, as he goes up against Wayne Rooney, who is arguably playing the best soccer of his career.

Looking for something other than the EPL? There are a handful of Copa Libertadores matches on tap, as well as an intriguing Spanish league tilt between Getafe and Sevilla.

Which matches are you most looking forward to? Think Arsenal can respond to their loss to Chelsea with a win vs. Liverpool? Will Friedel help Aston Villa blank Rooney? Which Copa Libertadores match will you be watching?

  1. U. Catolica vs. Club Atletico Colon will be a good one. Watching el viejo Bichi & Nieto is always good. Seeing “Daniel always injured Rios” ex Toluca player will be fun. Unless he gets injured walking to the lockeroom.

  2. Title chances “rapidly fading”? Neither Liverpool or Arsenal really have any legitimate shot of winning the title this season.

For me the, storyline is that a Liverpool win puts the Reds just two points behind Arsenal and would pull the Gunners into what is shaping up to be an epic battle for Champions League qualification with Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs, Villa, and Man City all vying for two spots. It could overshadow the Chelsea-Man United battle for the title…
